I called about this today. Apparently you have to go to studentloans.gov to apply for the Grad Plus loans. Also, they recommended that you not apply until July 1st because the loan has to be disbursed within 90 days of applying so the credit check remains current.DeeCee wrote:Thanks! My fin aid posted, too. How do I get Grad Plus loans?? I received an email earlier in the day informing me that this was available, so I just wanted to pass this along to those that may not be getting emails.

Thank you for your reply! I was actually on the studentloans.gov website and I was beginning to fill out the application. I was worried when I saw my loan amount was only 20,500, but I'm glad to know I'm not behind here by not applying for Grad Plus yet.Moral_Midgetry wrote:I called about this today. Is there anything else I should know? I can also call and ask.

So, if I still can't see/haven't gotten my financial aid do you think it's time to give them a ring or are there others who still have it as in process?

How on earth does UNC think that I am going to contribute over $7,000 to my cost of attendance??? What formula did they use based on the information I provided to get that number?

Has anyone tried to fill out the immunization form? I logged onto MyUNC per the email from Dean States, but I do not see a link to the Immunization and Health Form. Is it just me? What am I missing here?
I seriously hope that all these 'access issues' are genuinely due to some system changes (as claimed) and that they will have it worked out soon. It seems like every time I need to interact with Carolina and it requires technology beyond functional email, there is a problem. Frustrating...

I got a response out of Health Services. The actual instructions for accessing the immunization form follow:JDCsoccer7 wrote:Same boat here...and I don't even know if I'm getting all the emails for that matter. The Health History and Immunization form can found on the http://my.unc.edu home page. To access the form on my.unc.edu, click on the Prospective Student tab, then click “About” and look for the link under the Recreation and Wellness heading.
I can't fathom why this wasn't included in the original email. I guess they just expected us to randomly click around until we happened across it. At any rate, at least that's one thing off the list.

Sorry to butt into your class thread...., but just wanted to say that the main Connect Carolina website has been acting up the past couple of weeks. Looks like they have been upgrading the system since school let out, but it's a pain in the butt because it's interfering with me constantly checking for my grades
Enjoy your summer before school starts, and good luck.

Re: UNC Class of 2014
I checked out Glen Lennox when I was in town this weekend and really liked it, until I was informed that they have breed restrictions on dogs... not just pit bulls but shepherds as well... and I have a shepherd mix.
It sort of pissed me off, especially since they advertise as being super pet friendly, and this little piece of info is listed nowhere on their website, nor was it provided to me until AFTER I had viewed the units.
Just thought I'd throw that out for anyone who might be in a similar situation.

When is the next deposit due? / When have the previous ones been due?
Waitlister here that is getting closer and closer to needing to figuring out my future in San Diego if UNC doesn't come through...
Thanks!

Re: UNC Class of 2014
I haven't. I checked on Connect Carolina on the financial aid checklist and it said I had to send in a signed sheet of paper saying that I wasn't sending in an income tax form (even though I had already specified this on FASFA), which I mailed about two weeks ago (granted, from Europe) and it's still listed on Connect Carolina as needed, so I might be having to call soon.. Anyway, I recommend checking out that checklist, because I might've gone without aid if I hadn't. :[JDCsoccer7 wrote:Sooo has anyone else still not gotten their financial aid package?

Not sure if anyone has answered this question yet, but according to the financial aid info currently on ConnectCarolina, it looks like the tuition and fees for an in-state student will be $18,012 for the year. Not sure about out-of-state, but I'd imagine, based on the in-state increase, that it's only going to be a modest raise above the $31,218 it was last year.zdayar wrote:Does anyone have the exact numbers for tuition and fees for 2011-2012 academic year?

Re: UNC Class of 2014
Re: Connect Carolina; it's still a bit clunky, and updates seem to happen a lot slower than they did on the old student central site. I did my MPN and loan entrance counseling two weeks ago, yet the "financial aid" section still says I have it to do. My guess is that changes are entered in batches and may take 24 hours to post.
Re: financial aid package, I got mine almost immediately after sending in my full $350 deposit. Granted, I've been a UNC student twice before, and, probably more importantly, I have been working at UNC full time for about a year, so maybe that made things easier on the financial aid office. *shrug*

Thanks for the reply. I called the law school about this after posting the question and was quoted in-state tuition & fees at over 19K. I like $18,012 much better. Where on Connect Carolina did you see this number? I did not get my financial aid package yet. Was it part of that?tvt86 wrote:Not sure if anyone has answered this question yet, but according to the financial aid info currently on ConnectCarolina, it looks like the tuition and fees for an in-state student will be $18,012 for the year. Yes, it was in a link within the financial aid section, so this may not be available until you get your package. In the financial aid section, I clicked the 'need calculation summary' link and then the 'estimated financial aid budget' link.
