Maybe we can find a fourth TLS. We'll see what whatthojeeves says about his skill level - mine's... low, at best. I know bidding conventions like Blackwood and Stayman, but beyond basic stuff like that I'm pretty lost. And as I said above, my groundplay sucks. But it's a lot of fun. Not much reason to play anything either than bridge or poker, that I've seen.birdlaw117 wrote:Yeah... I said card games, not Bridge.ahduth wrote:Bridge is not good if you have trouble with regret. I'm still irritated I went for an overtrick on a 6D contract last night for no reason and of course lost, then I guess I must have been flustered, so I played high cards early in a 3NT contract and went down several tricks. Luckily my partner and I were the only ones getting dealt any points. But it's definitely a great game if you like annoying tactical issues and bizarre coded negotiation.birdlaw117 wrote:I don't know how to play bridge, but I'm really quick at picking up new card games and I would definitely like to learn.
edit: If you're quick at picking up bridge, you'll do just fine as a lawyer I'd have to imagine.![]()
I know Bridge is crazy complicated and full of nuances. But I would still love to learn...

I like blackjack, personally, because I can play it after a few glasses, but I see what you're saying.ahduth wrote:Maybe we can find a fourth TLS. I am a very bad but very entertaining bridge player. We should have a TLS bridge group for sure.

I like to play Pitch. I mean, there are hundreds of different versions of the game, but I enjoy it. I don't know if any of you have ever played, but it's solid.

I've never heard of that, but I'd give it a try.birdlaw117 wrote:I like to play Pitch. I mean, there are hundreds of different versions of the game, but I enjoy it. I don't know if any of you have ever played, but it's solid.
I realize now I've been hanging around with too many trader/programmers. Anyone play Agricola or Power Grid or Seven Wonders or anything like that? I always hear Settlers of Cataan referenced for this genre of game, but I've never played it. But yeah, nerdy European boardgames are way too much fun. I should have learned less math.

Pitch is really simple. If you know card games at all, you can pick it up in just a few minutes. Not necessarily be good at it, but at least know the rules.
Also, I have no idea what you're talking about with those other games...

I am. However, I've given up on correcting people on TLS. I think my dashing profile photo gives the wrong impression.thecilent wrote:Jeeves, I thought you were a girl this whole time. Disappointed.

Okay, I double-checked, and apparently Settlers is an American game, not a Euro game. I still might like it, but I'm not a huge fan of dice. I'd rather lose just because I'm an idiot, not because I'm unlucky.whathojeeves wrote:I don't know what the rest of those are but.. SETTLERS OF CATAAN. I'm in too. Also, if there are any more serious players, I'd be down to make some trips to Foxwoods/AC. I went to undergrad in Boston, and trips to New Hampshire Poker Rooms/Foxwoods were routine. Might scare off some casual players, but if anyone's interested, let me know.thecilent wrote:Exactlyyy.
