I listened to the first 2 hours of it the other day. Not a ton of quality substance so far, but I have a feeling the stuff the rest of the way will be more useful. At least I hope so...

Yeah maybe. Starting to think there really is no way of getting an advantage 0L summer, though

I think the biggest advantage you can have is not being neurotic and having a good perspective about everything. You know who you are and why you were successful in the first place. If the type of stuff you're doing for 0L prep isn't you, then don't do it. TLS attracts a certain kind of individual that was probably that type of studier and learner in the first place. The most successful people I know in law school had a great work/life balance and not a single one of them did 0L prep.

Yeah this seems pretty spot-on. Ty

Yeah i'm getting the feeling 0L prep just tries to instill the natural edge that a lot of people already have. Like the LSAT, the decks seemed stacked in favor of a certain type of person. That type of person by the way, is not "turbo-nerd." Just like studying 5 hours a day for 6 months is the strategy to get people into top law schools who really aren't intended to get high LSAT scores in the first place, 0L seems to be designed to help people who simply don't have the natural knack for this sort of analysis.

Obviosuly I think I have it, which is why 0L prep felt like a giant waste of money and time. So i'm gonna say you probably have it too if 0L does little more than state the obvious.

I really try to be not as elitest as most of this board, but everyone who told me law school is really hard didn't go to a school that came close to cracking the T14, and everyone I know who went to schools like ours say it's really not so bad.

So i'm chilling hard this summer with no worries.

I'm preparing for school by reading Dance with Dragons. I feel like the sheer amount of crap you have to remember will help get my brain in gear for school.

Theking, I feel you.

Only you're scaring me somewhat bc I did put in a good amount of studying for my lsat. I did about 13-15 timed PTs. Went through two prep-books cover-to-cover and did a bunch of just timed sections.

You guys do about the same or less?

Also it was weird I actually found TLS like two days after i took the LSAT - was looking for some board that was talking about the test and figuring out experimental haha

Funny convo I had the other day with a Manhattan broker who is also atteneding New York Law School:

broker: Omg, law school is so ridiculously hard. You are literally going to have no free time.
me: Uh. Really? The hardest thing ever? It can't be that bad.
broker: I mean, everything is almost as hard to understand as the LSAT.

I did about 5 or 6 PTs, and pretty much everything in Logic Games Bible. All in all it was about 14 days of hardcore 5+ hour studying. Reading comp I was pretty much always -3 from day 1 and was -3 on my actual exam. LR just took me a little practice to get down to -0 and -1, Logic Games was the only thing I had to really work at because though I could finish -4, I was always 10 minutes over time.

Funny thing was on my exam, Dec '10, LG were notoriously fucked. I ended up guessing on 3. Though I finished -4 overall in the section, I was one of those dudes who thought he could count on a -0. The curve compensated for that I guess.

LG was so easy for me. RC was my hardest. That might not be a good thing for me this fall.

I'm going through it as a book on tape while I tan on the beach and practice starcraft II build orders. I'm like a responsible addict though, only allowing myself 1 or 2 chapters a day, because I know my supply is very limited.

It's possible you could have just overprepped. After the 6th PT you might not have been gaining anything except confidence. ABout half way through my prep I stalled out around 172/173 but kept going because I felt pressured since I had only been going at it for like 7 days, which is/was a joke compared to other people's study habits.

I want to say probably about the same. I took Testmasters (missed a lot of it towards the end due to exams) and then did the LGB by myself after because I felt like I still needed work there. RC was probably my easiest section. Once I figured that there was no point in trying to understand some of those scientific terms LOL.

I always wonder what would happen if I took an LSAT cold right now. You think we could all still get our overachiever scores? On a side note, I started scoring higher when I stopped the prep class. Obviously because I know how I learn better and what I need to work on. I used to think 60% of the class was wasted time. It's also why I don't put much stock in how people on here tell me to study for exams until I'm in the law school flow myself. There's not a one size fit all approach.

I wish I'd studied more (a lot more), I think I only did like 4 or 5 PTs, and only the last 2 or 3 were timed. And then only the final one was an actual 3 hour run through. I did do a bunch of sweet writing PTs though (mostly worried I'd forgotten how to write legibly).

This was of course before I found TLS and learned that 173 was just "ok." By then it was too late for an October retake.

If he's going to take 10 years to write the next one, he should consider writing a book about the Doom of Valyria in between.

I took my LSAT dec '09. Took a cold lsat like that a year later right before the dec '10 test - got a 170, down from my 174 on real thing. Seemed so difficult. Still beat my whole pre-law society though (I set it up and proctored it and just took it with them)

I think I ended up taking about 15 PTs and folding all of my drilling into that. Not doing any 0L prep...my work needs me here until the 19th as it is so...

Also, I'd heard somewhere that this book was pretty much ready to go a long time ago, but then he ended up doing almost a full rewrite?
3 years/book seems much more reasonable than 6

You mean DWD or the next one? I refuse to look at anything Game of Thrones-related on the web until I've read the entire book. People can sometimes seriously lack circumspection with respect to spoilers.

Man, you guys are slackers. I took 35 timed PTs. I just looked back over my gunner-ish PT tracking sheet, where I dutifully tallied and averaged my scores on each section after every PT. Good times. I knew I'd need a strong LSAT with my not so great GPA, so the studying proved worth it. Plus, I'm a little more confident in my ability to manage the LS workload after doing two or three PTs per week along with studying and reviewing them while working 40 hours.

Haha, I did the same thing with an Excel spreadsheet. My friends (rightfully) made fun of me.

Anyway, it'll be good to see everyone at NYU next month!

yeah I don't think we should worry too much about how we will do in law school based on how much prep we needed to get the lsat scores that we did...we all got in and will be fine! at least that's how I'm deciding to look at it, I'm sure my optimism will not last very long once classes start :?

I definitely did around 30 PTs, kept track of everything, pretty much like grumbles. I feel like I'm relatively well prepared for the workload, since I had the whole student-athlete plus law school plus graduate courses going on, then swapped sports and lsat/application stuff for studying for the CPA exam.

That said, I leveled out quite a bit after 15 or so PTs. I think one of the biggest reasons I'm doing 0L prep is just to be doing something and staying relatively sharp, but not doing enough that I fear burn out during first semester (I've literally only done 2 hours of LEEWS so far, and that's it).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
