The "tuition payment" where you write your loans pending thing has to come through the envelope that's sent with the packet...although I suppose if you don't mind paying for postage you could probably just send one yourself.

Did you follow any TLS guide to 1L success? Draw from multiple guides? Just wing it?

Did you refer to old outlines or exams? You say you made your own outlines, but were you checking them against those from previous years?

Any advice regarding budgeting time?

I didn't follow any TLS guide. I just figured out what worked for me. I definitely used old outlines and exams during my finals prep. As far as budgeting time, since I didn't use any supplements, I just read and took notes on all of the reading prior to class. It usually took 2 hours for each class.

Thanks a lot for answering our questions. Of course, everyone studies differently, but it can be nice to hear someone's experience.

How many hours/week would you say you studied on average outside of class? How many weeks before finals did you start reviewing old exams and focusing on preparing for finals? Did you find that there was a hard curve in getting used to reading and comprehending cases without supplements, or that it was just like reading anything else?

I checked the academics in Albert and it shows me in Section 1. I talked to another NYU 2014 student and he's showing Section 1 as well. So I'm wondering... is this an actual section assignment, or is 1 just a default until we get the assignments during orientation?

Please check and let me know...I suppose if we all show Section 1 it will be safe to assume the latter is true...

As per the packet, this is just a dummy class so that the system knows that we're going to be there in the fall.

Sushi Lounge is cheap but occasionally of dubious quality. However my thought process is always as follows: their turnover is really high, therefore my chances of getting food poisoning are low.

Additionally they have ridiculous drink specials so by the time you're eating you don't care much about the provenance of your tekka maki.

All I can really provide in life is food, drink, and IT advice.

What about indian or pakistani food around NYU? There is a place in my hometown that I am loading up on right now because I am going to miss it when I move

The stuff on "curry row" (like 6th between 1st and 2nd) is pretty dire. Brick Lane Curry House isn't bad, but it's pretty much the only one of those I'd eat at, and they have a decent liquor selection so that's something. A better option is the guy who makes dosas in Washington Square park, they're quite good -- there's also a spot called Hampton Chutney on Prince that does fusion-y dosas. There's a couple of places that do snack stuff right by the law school, the best of which is probably Kati Roll on Macdougal.

As to North Indian food (which is what I feel you're asking for?) there's a place I go for cab driver food (literally it's usually me and 10 burly Punjabi cabbies) that's in an alley off Houston between Broadway and Lafayette that is delicious but definitely not for the faint of heart.

Other than that you'd have to go up to Murray Hill (or Curry Hill) for a wider selection.

There's a place on I think Broome or Grand in Chinatown that is listed as Chinese and does some standard Chinese dishes but also has a bunch of Burmese options (I think the owners are Burmese). I'll try and remember the name. There used to be a place in the W Village but they apparently still have a branch on the UES http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-mingala-new-york

Other than that I think you may have to go to the Outer Boroughs.

Awesome, thanks! I'm definitely going for more authentic paki/indian food. The place I go now is a culture shock to outsiders for sure, that's how you know it's legit

Tiffin Walla and Curry Leaf in Murray Hill are both good if you're up for a bit of a walk/short subway ride - Tiffin Walla is veg only, but still delicious and does Gujurati, Punjabi, AND South Indian food (a wealth of riches really). Haandi in Murray Hill is excellent if you want goat curry etc (Pakistani punjabi food, basically).

Apologies if this has been answered in past discussion, but the section schedules that were posted here (based on the NYU link below) suggested that two sections would be having Crim Law and the rest would have Torts...

But the office of admissions letter from last week said we'll all have Torts. Did anyone else notice this? Can anyone explain this discrepancy...? Would be nice to know what to expect...

Huh, good catch. It also says Procedure I when the spring sched shows no sign of another CivPro class (and I think 5 credits is really enough, please). Some no-lifey gunners laid out the sections way back in the thread somewhere (I'm not saying anything about page 61, but...), and there were definitely some sections with Crim and some with Torts.
