i've done a lot of searching in the last week, and i've only seen a few that start on august 1 (sept 1 is well represented, though). hopefully i'm just not looking in the right place! i'm not familiar with boston at all, so there's a chance i'm doing something wrong

Where do you look? I saw a few on CL that start in August, but the vast majority do seem to be a September start. This seems normal though for Boston... It's the September scramble. I guess a cheap weekly hotel is the standard for the first week? I wonder if BU would count that as a relocation expense

i've only looked a little bit at CL. i mostly just googled "[neighborhood] apartment" and found links to various realty websites in that area or found websites for the city of boston that listed apartments in that area. i should probably give CL another try though.

I was asked to repost this here:
I just realized that BU starts pretty late! Registration is Aug. 31, orientation Sept. 2. It reminds me of UCLA (we were on quarters/always started around Labor Day). I guess moving into a place on Sept. 1 isn't that bad, then. It'd be a pain to move right in between those two days, but not the end of the world because then it looks like we'd have that long weekend (Sept. 3-5) to organize/get settled (the 5th is Labor Day) before classes start Sept. 6!
BTW, I'm glad to see this thread become a little more active... I hope more people join in!

Oh yeah so classes don't even start until latee (After labor day in September), so I guess we're good with the September move-in dates... just don't expect much time to adjust

The revised class schedule for next year has classes beginning a week later to help out those with Sept. 1 move in dates. So it shouldn't be a problem

I know! Yup, going to see what happens with NU, but I'm trying to be realistic and plan for BU.
