Re: UVA Class of 2014
Hi guys,
My app went complete September 1st and I got a phone call from Director Faulk 4 hours later. He was so nice and gracious and this is definitely in the running for the shortest and sweetest cycle ever. I'm really happy about this and am looking forward to meeting my class soon.
I was a 3.22/170 splitter, applied ED.

Sent in my ED form and residency stuff on Friday. Will complete the online form as soon as LSAC processes my second LOR. I've had my stuff ready for a week now - but LSAC is screwing up my plans.

You are really, really makin me want to drop the hammer on UVA ED. (I'm 170/3.4). I just don't know if I'm ready for the financial commitment. Also, not a huge fan of softball.DMXdawg wrote:I am not a VA resident.

I'll wait til my second LOR comes in... then we'll see. Maybe I'll have some great epiphany between now and then.
But anyway, congrats. UVA's an awesome school. And now you can just sit back and let everyone else worry about their cycles.

Nice DMX! Got me beat on the shortest cycle, haha. Look forward to seeing you next fall. Glad to hear others are having the same good experiences with admissions.DMXdawg wrote:Hi guys,

Thanks to all who conveyed their congratulations as well.
Beachbum, if it is at all possible for you, I'd recommend heading to C'ville and checking out the law school. I toured a few and UVA has a much different vibe than its peer schools, which contributed enormously to my decision to ED. From talking to others, it seems people are either into that vibe or not-if you see what it is like for yourself, I'm sure you'll find your decision easier to make.

Wow, congrats!sundance95 wrote:Guess I'm the first non-deferral in this thread.
Sent in my app late on September 2nd, went down to C'ville today (the 3rd) to visit a friend and check out the tour and Q & A session. Turned in my ED contract and left to get lunch, got a call asking me to come back, and was handed my acceptance. Shortest cycle evar? Might also be the cheapest due to my fee waiver, thanks very much UVA.![]()
Dean Trujillo, Director Faulk, and the rest of the admissions department could not be more approachable and friendly and really add a personal touch to the process. Being informed of my acceptance in-person was an awesome gesture, something I'll never forget, and confirmed that I had made the right choice by EDing to Virginia. For those applying to UVA, I strongly suggest trying to make it there and speak with them in person.
For the curious, I was a non-URM 172/3.12 splitter with some years out of undergrad, and what I would rate as a strong PS, strong WE, believe I had strong LORs, and I wrote every additional essay I could (GPA addendum, Why Virginia, diversity statement). I use the past tense because I'm no longer a splitter-I'm just a UVA 0L! For the record, I also am a VA resident.
Looking forward to lurking in this thread all year and seeing everyone down there. Congrats in advance to my classmates.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Hey everybody,
This is probably a dumb question but I want somebody's opinion. I am applying to ED and actually already signed my contract and submitted it. I emailed UVA and asked if I could email it as a pdf attachment saying that I wanted to apply as early as possible. They said I could do that. Only problem is I am still waiting on my last LOR to be processed. It should be there already they just need to process it. Should I email UVA and explain the delay or will they not care? I wish LSAC was better with the LOR thing..
Thanks, I hope to be joining those who are already accepted soon!

they guarantee a response after 2 weeks so I wouldn't get too antsy. Anyway, the more I read about UVA, the more I like it. I have terrible softball form, however.

Congrats DMX, I'll end up with similar numbers to you and would love to get into UVA, I just don't want to give up a chance at scholarship money somewhere so I won't be EDing. Your success has definitely made me think about it though.

Yea,
I was debating that as well- its a difficult choice. Good luck on whatever u may choose. The tradeoff between money and possibility of employment is tough..
