Woah looks like they cancel your FAFSA if you begin to make changes but decide you dont need to and exit it out. I had to resubmit. Oops, hopefully they wont mind me being months late.

Award was finalized on FAAPS without it though (I was also a month late on my tax documents), so no worries I guess.

Spacepenguin: Sounds like some kind of error, but if not then you're not tottally boned as long as your credit score is ok.

Speaking of FAAPS - my award was/is finalized on FAAPS but not in the billing part of NYU Home -- does anyone else have this?

My student account only shows my deposit and my housing bill. No tuition-related charges at all.

Your section (which determines almost all of your classes) is assigned to you. The only exception your 1L year is your 2nd semester elective course, which you can pick from a short list.

Hey guys...just made the move to NYC this week and in the process of setting up my apt. Very exciting stuff!

The movers delivered an extra TV stand and an extra desk by mistake. So, was wondering if any of you were interested in a free brand new TV stand/desk. Both are really nice (IMO), but they're too big for my apt (a.k.a. closet).

This is the TV stand:
http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Showroom ... ent%20w503

This is the desk: (includes chair)
http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Showroom ... geNumber=2

Since I didn't pay anything for them, I'm not asking anything for them - I just don't want extra furniture lying around.

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon. PM me if interested! :)

For the record, because I'm an attention whore: section schedules

Trying to accept my financial aid stuff, but it's telling me: Award access not available. Looks like they haven't finalized my award yet, according to the tax documentation email that I got 3 weeks ago...but I have the loan info packet that's telling me I need to accept those loans.

Man, this work sched sucks. Hopefully I have time to call tomorrow sometime.

Mine is the same way. I also cannot yet view/accept/decline aid on the Albert website. I think we will receive an email soon, and then we can accept our aid then

I have that hold too. What did you do to get it removed?

I emailed them with a panic-ridden email. Really though, I just wrote, "so what's the deal with this hold thingy?"

They replied the next day saying everything was kosher.

so after logging into albert and checking the academic center...i see that i'm enrolled for this "LAW-LW 11742-001
LEC (19574)" and after clicking on it it says section 1

that's probably just a uniform section for everyone right? and not section assignments?

...also does anyone see anything on albert when they hit view financial aid? i just get "award access not available" for 2011-2012

Mine also says "Award Access Not Available."

It seems like they are in the middle of finalizing things, so some people's (I think) are activated, while not everyone's is. At least I really hope this is the case.

Yeah, this is me.

Also, the packet that I received said that the 11742-001 is just a dummy class so that the school recognizes that we're actually showing up in the fall. Nothing to do with section assignments (thank goodness, as I didn't really want section 1)

It is so damn hot here in Chicago that I am honest to god looking forward to my NYC shoe box-sized studio that can be air conditioned with a single window unit.

I need to be in like... Argentina or somewhere right now.

Yeah, the midwest is ridiculous right now. Heat index over 120 pretty much non-stop. Heat index was still about 100 when I was leaving the bars at 2:30 the other night.

seriously it's so damn hot! 85 degrees here in LA - pretty whack. I mean I guess it's sunny, there isn't much humidity, and there is still a cool breeze running through my office but still... 85 degrees!

My company has air conditioned the holy hell out of the building. I have a space heater running under my desk to counteract the arctic chill.

My car AC broke last week. It's glorious trying to drive home from work when the parking lot has not a single tree anywhere nearby (and the car is navy blue). Roll down the windows and it's still 95+ outside.

I had a friend in high school who had no AC in his super old beater. He used to put a cold dripping washcloth under his ballcap on the way home from practice and let the icy moisture cool him. A good trick, if a damp one.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
