Imo this is a good thing... nyu attracts better professors which will ultimately be good for us in many different ways.Dayan114 wrote:To everyone bummed about their housing assignment--prepare to be bummed-er:

Re: NYU Class of 2014
definitely does...thanks very muchenvironmentallaw wrote:I emailed financial aid about purchasing a computer, and the reply was that in order to receive a loan increase, you have to wait to buy a computer until after July 15th and then submit a request for a budget increase (see: --LinkRemoved-- ). Buying a computer before July 15th makes you ineligible for a budget increase. Also, I think you might have to borrow the maximum in order to request a budget increase (not entirely sure though because of the annual estimated student contribution and LRAP considerations...). I'm not sure about the textbooks, but I would guess orientation? Hope that helps!cruelestgame wrote:does anyone know how the loan increase works for buying a computer (preferably some time this summer)? also, anyone know when we will know what textbooks to buy...does that happen at orientation when we're assigned sections?

I mean once you decide your area and accept the unavoidable absurd prices and broker's fee, it's fairly straight-forward. Punching yourself in the dick is pretty straight-forward too though, so I see your point.
It's gonna be real great when it's sorted, so soldier on.

If anyone is looking for an apt near NYU and want to split a 2 BR, send me a PM and maybe we can talk and see if it will work out and whatnot

If you're looking at Brooklyn (e: or god help you, Hoboken) I'd say keep trying, but Manhattan without a broker is truly a nightmare if not impossible. That said, that info comes from friends who are Manhatten brokers, so even though they aren't charging me they may have been indoctrinated with that idea. yet, it seems like they aren't wrong.thecilent wrote:Haha so true tyty. It's not TOTALLY impossible without a broker, but it is difficult especially if you don't already live in New York (i.e. have time for lots of legwork).TheKingintheNorth wrote:If you're looking at Brooklyn (e: or god help you, Hoboken) I'd say keep trying, but Manhattan without a broker is truly a nightmare if not impossible. For anyone familiar with the 3BR D'Ag room layout, is there a common room area?

Re: NYU Class of 2014
I just wanted to check back in since I've been gone for a month or so. I got a 3 BR in Mercer and I'm pretty happy with that. If there are any chicks out there looking for off-campus housing and also looking for a roommate, let me know because my girlfriend is moving out there too and is looking for a roommate.
Yeah, I missed a lot, and sadly I just read through the majority of the pages I missed. And I didn't really miss anything all that exciting. So... that was a great use of my time...

Anyone living in NYC currently willing to put someone up for a few nights while they search for an apartment?

I feel like I'm coming in so late to the party. I just got in off waitlist and I can't be more excited to come to NYC.
I have a question about family housing. Assuming a spot opens up for my wife and I, are the rooms decently livable for a young couple? We've lived in traditional dorms and it was a little rough. Are the NYU dorms like that or more like small apartments?

So I... lost a form they sent me. When am/was I supposed to submit my transcript? I'll call them on Tuesday, but I feel like they'd have wanted Dean certification by now.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
There was transcripts and then there was also a dean's cert type thing, and I'm pretty sure the deadline is/was the 2nd... So I would call them Monday for sure.ahduth wrote:So I... lost a form they sent me. When am/was I supposed to submit my transcript?
