Yeah. You get 1 year free with a student email, and then you have to pay for the subscription!chrisokc wrote: I got an e-mail saying my Prime membership had expired...

I used Half.com and Amazon (free Prime membership with .edu email address) and got all of my books for around $1000 total (both semesters).
Used if I could. They have a rating system and people are pretty good about saying how much, if any, a book is marked up. Of course, buying early helps.

I did too, but I can buy another year at half off.

I would say that the law school book-buying process is really similar to undergrad. Only use the bookstore if you're desparate to charge something to your student account. Even the used stuff is higher than buying online.

Edit: It looks like we got our class schedule the 23rd of July (which was the second to last friday of the month) so maybe you'll get yours this week.

Re: SMU 2014
My schedule (part-time) is up too. Of course, I noticed my account balance now shows the first semester tuition due... Oh well.
For anyone who doesn't know this, I'll called Park-n-Pony about parking permits and student IDs. They said we could order our parking permits through the Park-n-Pony website, after we are enrolled in classes (which should hopefully be now). We won't be able to get our student IDs until after 8/15.

Section 2/5 LRW for me. Is anyone else still stuck on Step 3 in Pony Tracks? I'm starting to worry that I'm the only one.

Re: SMU 2014
So I called the FinAid office today to ask about the status of the PLUS loans, and the woman I spoke with on the phone said that the funds from loans will be disbursed to your student account on the 9th or the 10th, but aren't likely to be direct deposited into personal accounts until up to 14 days from the start of classes.
Can any current students tell me around when the money will be available for use? I know it's just a guesstimate at this point, but I'd like to have some idea of a time frame...the period between 8/9 and 9/2 is pretty vague!

I got mine about 3 days after disbursement. If they try and pull that 14 day crap, scream and yell about how you're paying interest on it from the moment it disburses.

Re: SMU 2014
I have become somewhat of an expert on SMU's financial aid disbursement rituals, and my best guess is that the money will be available to you in your checking account between August 12-16. The disbursements are made on a rolling basis over the course of several days.swilson215 wrote:So I called the FinAid office today to ask about the status of the PLUS loans, and the woman I spoke with on the phone said that the funds from loans will be disbursed to your student account on the 9th or the 10th, but aren't likely to be direct deposited into personal accounts until up to 14 days from the start of classes.

Anybody have any idea what the schedule for orientation looks like? Can't seem to find info anywhere about what time we'll need to be there, or when we finish or anything...

Re: SMU 2014
When I spoke with the FinAid office they said that as long as we were registered for classes (which we are now) that there shouldn't be any problem getting them if we go to the Park N Pony office and request them in person. But really, I don't know if she knew exactly what she was talking about.Burgstaller04 wrote:Anyone know when we get our student id's? At orientation? Can we get them before?
