Thanks. I guess I just have to be patient.Keeper1125 wrote:sarahh wrote:Has anyone's final transcripts been processed yet? I am not sure if the admissions office is slow or if they were lost in the mail.FOR ALL INCOMING STUDENTS: In addition, we would like to remind you to submit all official transcripts by June 15, 2011 to the J.D. Admissions Office. All official transcripts are required for registration. For more details regarding this requirement, please refer to you admissions binder or feel free to contact us at [redacted]@law.harvard.edu. The J.D. Admissions Office will begin acknowledging receipt of official transcripts in early June. At that time you may expect to receive an email from our office if we have received all required transcripts.

Yeah, I sent them an e-mail about it and got the same response. They are sending notifications about college certifications currently, so at least you can get that confirmation.

I would ask. They have probably dealt with this before.chiedisevuoi wrote:um... huh? I'm in a master's program for which i'm finishing all commitments by the middle of June, but not receiving my transcript certifying graduation until September 1. urgh. wonder what I'm expected to do.

Re: Harvard Law 2014
I'm in roughly the same position, except my commitments won't be finished until August. I mentioned it on the phone and they told me it was fine as long as I had my undergrad transcripts in by the June date (I sent those last year so that was already taken care of). They said I could just update my file when I received my final master's transcripts. I didn't go into a lot of detail re: the process but they definitely made it seem like it would not be an issue.chiedisevuoi wrote:um... huh? Re: Harvard Law 2014
Question about HRES housing: my roommate and I are trying to decide whether to take a currently available apartment or wait for our view and select window. The currently available place is perfect except that the lease starts earlier than we'd like. If we wait for the view and select window, will those apartments have leases that start later? Has anyone had their view and select window yet? Does anyone know what typical lease start dates are? HRES will only tell me that different leases start at different times...

Re: Harvard Law 2014
Question: I think I have located the apartment I want to secure for this Summer. It's a 2 br, close to campus, at about 1600/mo. The deposit I have to put down to rent includes 1st months rent, last months rent, broker's fee equal to 1 months rent, and security deposit, and the total comes out to about 6,400$. I live in Oregon where this is not standard practice (I paid only 1st month and sec deposit on my last apartment) so I need to know if I am being ripped off here. Any opinions?

Is it just for the summer or for the whole year? If it is the latter, I don't think you are getting ripped off. I think it is just a crazy rental market.dooterdude11 wrote:Question: I think I have located the apartment I want to secure for this Summer. It's a 2 br, close to campus, at about 1600/mo. 1st/last/security is fine. you should negotiate the broker fee down to 1/2 or at least try to. 1 full month fee is kind of a rip off, even around here!

Yes, the view and select apartments are mostly July start dates, with some August ones on the late end and some late June ones on the early end.brooklynwegohard wrote:Question about HRES housing: my roommate and I are trying to decide whether to take a currently available apartment or wait for our view and select window. The apartment I got through my v/s window has a July 12 start date, which was about average for the 2 and 3 BR places I was looking at.

Re: Harvard Law 2014
wow, this thread is tiny! Anyway, it seems like a lot of people live in the dorms. Is that just the norm for 1L?
I'm thinking about living in Cambridge/Somerville, but the rent is really high. If anyone is looking for roommates, my husband + cat and I would love to share a 2 or 3BR to cut the costs. We've had roommates before and we are very clean, especially in common areas. PM me!
I'm so excited to move to Boston! I'm hoping I can squeeze in a visit in July..
