Honest question...
Who here is going at sticker or close to it? If so, why do you take such a risk?

Part time evening my salary will absorb most of the cost. I passed on full ride at SJU part time evening program, but not close in rankings or program and almost full scholarship at Dozo full time. I have to believe that Fordham in the long haul is worth 100k more than the SJU in the long run. I keep my job no COL loans.Lolek wrote:Honest question...

+1 I'm doing pretty much the same thing. I'll be on a non-profit salary so I'll have to take out a few COL loans, but not nearly sticker. I gave up a full ride at a top-tier-two school because I just wasn't comfortable moving to the west coast when my last five years have been in NYC and I grew up east of the Mississippi. I'm committed to NYC for the long term, and I wanted the opportunities that a school in New York could afford.blacklawboss wrote:Part time evening my salary will absorb most of the cost. I'll be full tuition but got grants to cover most of my COL. I've been in the city for a few years and I wanted to work in NYC and didn't want to relocate for school. A friend who graduated St. John's top 10% told me she wished she had picked Fordham because she felt like the opportunities just aren't there at lower ranked schools, despite class ranking.
Like many of you, I passed up a lot of $ at Dozo. I believe the students at Fordham and Dozo are probably very similar in terms of intelligence and ability--lots of people at Dozo are there on full rides or close to it (very few at Fordham, I imagine). I feel more comfortable going to a school that has decent prospects for those who finish top half rather than top 15% or top 10%.

I'm going very close to sticker. I just pray I can get a well paying job out of school. If not, the LRAP program at Fordham isn't too shabby.Lolek wrote:Honest question...

I loved Dozo and the people there, it came down to quality of life with current job. I can swing LS part time evening as opposed to Dozo full time with COL that wouldn't cover my bills.adevotchka wrote:Lolek wrote:Honest question...

No one has heard back yet. Interviews are scheduled for next week and you should hear back a few weeks later.aaaaaah wrote:Did anyone apply for Stein Scholars? Anyone hear back yet?
This is a great program with a lot of talented and interesting people as members (plus the great networking opportunities and $4,000 summer stipend), so if anyone has not applied yet and they are still accepting applications, which they probably are, its worth trying out for.

Ooooo good point. The ending was definitely more gripping than any season of 24 or even Lost, and I would've hated to have had it ruined!Gemini wrote:NO SPOILERS. I actually really enjoyed it, too, and am super-excited to start studying all of this stuff!

Yeah, especially the first half. It gets kinda dense near the end though.Stringer6 wrote:is Whose Monet a quick read?

Can you guys PM me your fb links or something of the sort. I wanna start putting names to faces to spare myself the embarrassment of asking everyone I speak to if they're on TLS
Also, what do you all anticipating getting from the class? I'm hoping it is just as helpful as LEEWS or Law Preview despite many on TLS claiming that the two are completely useless.

Re: Fordham Class of 2014
AEP= Academic Enrichment Program. I'm not sure how they chose who get's the emails or if every incoming student did (although, I don't all did). Essentially, it is a two week prep course where they go over outlines, case briefs, time management, etc. It seems to be the case that many of the students who were invited to apply over email were either minorities or disadvantaged in some sort of way...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
