Probably waiting for payday on the 18th. Praying they don't shoot up too much by then.dddhhh wrote:How much longer will you wait before buying? I have family in the area so will be driving/staying with them, you can't get into midway or ohare for better than $400? ouch.dddhhh wrote:Def attendinghomestyle28 wrote:Are you def committed to NU, still waiting on scholly info to decide, etc?dddhhh wrote:+1homestyle28 wrote:In an unrelated note...why is this joint so dead? Even flying Southwest into Midway (from Portland) was $420 the last time I looked. Pretty sure I could get to Hawaii for less than that right now.homestyle28 wrote:I have family in the area so will be driving/staying with them, you can't get into midway or ohare for better than $400? ouch.dddhhh wrote:Def attendingApplied for aid but willing to pay sticker.

You've got it good! It's looking like $1000 weekend trip right now...and that subsidy application isn't looking too promising. So glad they are hooking up the food lol.homestyle28 wrote:I have family in the area so will be driving/staying with them, you can't get into midway or ohare for better than $400? ouch.
Agree with rink that Hawaii would be cheaper, I know for sure that the carribean would!

Meh. I'm probably the only person on the planet who can take or leave tropical vacations. My dream destinations have snow. I'll go to Whistler while you guys tour campus.homestyle28 wrote:you should def do that then, I'll send you pics from NU/act as your proxy ala Arrested Development.rinkrat19 wrote:Even flying Southwest into Midway (from Portland) was $420 the last time I looked. I will bet you a beer that there is visible, findable snow in Chicago on ASW.rinkrat19 wrote:My dream destinations have snow. I'll go to Whistler while you guys tour campus.
This will be perfect for both of us because the one who is disappointed about the weather situation in early April will be the one that gets the free beer.

We had all better find great things to do/places to go in next Nov-March as the 33 degree rain crushes my soul.SMA22 wrote:All you winter-lovers, enjoyRain tonight, snow tomorrow in Chicago...

Haha, you from a warm climate? Honestly, it's not that bad--there's still plenty to do in Chicago in the winter. I love the snow, and once it starts getting old in late February/March, that just means spring is right around the corner...homestyle28 wrote:We had all better find great things to do/places to go in next Nov-March as the 33 degree rain crushes my soul.SMA22 wrote:All you winter-lovers, enjoyRain tonight, snow tomorrow in Chicago...

Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2014
Went to the diversity admitted students weekend (i don't know the official title haha). It seems like a great school, and the collegiality thing that seemingly every school talks about seemed like it was actually true there just from talking to students. All the other admits were interesting/nice/not awkward. Some of the professors were great too. All in all, NW did a heckuva job putting this together and I'm sure all of you attending the regular ASW will love it as well
(sorry if I'm vague, I'm pretty tired from the trip haha, but if anyone has questions, I would love to answer them)

Nah, I'm a midwesterner born and raised, just don't like the 4 months of grey in winter...but the fam is all in midwest as well, so I'm stuck...and my wife has this thing about needing 4 seasons and snow @ christmas.SMA22 wrote:Haha, you from a warm climate? Hey guys - I was admitted for fall 2011, and submitted my application for merit-need aid to Northwestern. I am still awaiting a response. Anybody know whether they respond to all applicants or only those awarded money?

Damn you Northwestern!
Just got an email from the Northwestern Law Admissions Office and got excited that it was financial aid info....
Turned out to be an invite for the Admitted Students Weekend. Almost as bad as the Thanksgiving Turkey email.

They respond to everyone who filled out the application (the only case where I can imagine someone not filling it out is that they're independently wealthy). But they don't respond to everyone at once, they just promise to have something to you before the seat deposit is due at the end of april.Horsefeathers wrote:Hey guys - I was admitted for fall 2011, and submitted my application for merit-need aid to Northwestern. This is just a general question, and I decided to ask it in the NU thread because I just got the admitted students' reception email invitation from them, but what is the dress code for these events, typically?

my sense is that it's mostly casual...not a day for sweat pants, but not a day for suit & tie...I'll go businesscasual I expect = khakis & button down.jrose5 wrote:This is just a general question, and I decided to ask it in the NU thread because I just got the admitted students' reception email invitation from them, but what is the dress code for these events, typically?

J/K (Although I did buy one)
For the diversity weekend it varied, but it was definitely a definitely a business-casual vibe. The people in more corporate-type attire were in the minority. Personally, I wore jeans and a tshirt with a leather jacket over the first day activities (which were more casual), and slightly nicer denim with a fitted but casual button shirt (untucked) the second day...

Is it just me, or does the NU law logo seem... shockingly plain and underwhelming? I almost wish they just went with the university logo, which is much nicer.homestyle28 wrote:I got decked out in NU gear for xmas...so definitely gonna be that guy, wearing NU shirt, writing in NU folio, with NU penFlustercluck wrote:jrose5 wrote:This is just a general question, and I decided to ask it in the NU thread because I just got the admitted students' reception email invitation from them, but what is the dress code for these events, typically?

I'm confused about where the yellow comes from...the law school has its own colors? The rest of the school only uses purple/white.jrose5 wrote:Is it just me, or does the NU law logo seem... shockingly plain and underwhelming? I like the NU Law logo when it has the whole Northwestern Law wordmark next to it. Otherwise it looks kinda...corporate.
Which university logo are you referring to? I've seen the university seal withe Latin and Greek mottos (which is nice, but not really "school spirit-y"), and the NU Wildcats athletic logo, which I'm not a huge fan of.
I'll be the girl buying purple stuff for everyone she knows. I love school apparel, and it'll be fun to change from orange and black, which I've been accumulating since I was 14. (High school & UG had the same mascot and colors...which totally gives away where I went to school if any of you are creepy stalkers!)

There are too many non-unique combos! Like the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes and the Ohio State Buckeyes.rinkrat19 wrote:I'm confused about where the yellow comes from...the law school has its own colors? The rest of the school only uses purple/white.
