I know I'm still supposed to allow two more weeks for it, but has anyone received their ASW reimbursement yet?

And actually, UVA's website says to wait 6 to 8 weeks before contacting them, so I guess I am getting a little ahead of myself.

From the first ASW, it took between three and four weeks for me to get it.joemoviebuff wrote:Actually, three.c_dubya_s wrote:Nope. Has it really only been two weeks?joemoviebuff wrote:I know I'm still supposed to allow two more weeks for it, but has anyone received their ASW reimbursement yet?

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Hey Guys-
I've been looking for housing in Cville recently and I wanted to know if any current students have stayed in or have had an experience with University Place. I have had a tour of the place and the facilities seemed amazing and the prices were incredibly reasonable. The only drawbacks that I could see were:
1. location (it is not walking distance from law school, but since I have a car this doesn't really matter).
2. There seems to be a larger undergraduate population than desired (still not a huge deal either).
Other than that, everything seemed great and it was located in a quiet and secluded area.
Am I missing something? Are there other problems with the place that I didn't notice?

Yeah I haven't received mine from the April ASD either. I was kind of thinking we would get it at the end of this week tho. I still haven't gotten my UVA email either, and I paid my first deposit a month ago. Do I need to pay my second deposit before I get assigned an email?

^I'm not sure if they send you the info about how to set it up, but if you can get into SIS, then you can set it up yourself - that's what the rest of us who have set ours up did.

Hi guys! Does anyone know when the deadline for accepting loans is? I've been looking on SIS and UVA's Fin Aid section, but haven't been able to find anything.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Did anyone else get the email from Jason Dugas about the clifford chance Scholars Program? It looks like the scholarships to Law Preview are targeted for URM students and the full cost is $1000+. I doubt that a 5 - 6 day preparation course can significantly influence 1L grades but I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts.

Just curious if ANYONE got any money based purely off of need? By this I mean grants or money that need not be paid back.

There are several threads about this question, search Law Preview and you will see a lot of discussion. Personally I dont think that it will be really worth it. Many on here have argued that as well.paulinaporizkova wrote:i got it too (i'm LGBT) - i guess i'll apply because it couldn't hurt?yngblkgifted wrote:+1. I agree; however, if you win the scholarship, and there is a location close to you, it probably wouldn't hurt to do it.Law Sauce wrote:There are several threads about this question, search Law Preview and you will see a lot of discussion. Re: UVA Class of 2014
From what I understand, they never give out money based on need only. They give out all their money based on a "combination" of need and merit. If you look at lsn for the last few years, pretty much all the non-urm grants go to people with median boosting numbers, so even if they call this need and merit, seems like just merit based to me.AssumptionRequired wrote:Just curious if ANYONE got any money based purely off of need? This is based off of my reading of lsn data and some conversations way earlier in this thread, so take it for what it's worth.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
For those of you who were offered housing at Ivy: how long did it take between when you applied and were offered a lease? I know this probably varies, but I may be hearing of a deferral-worthy job offer in about 2 weeks. If it takes longer than two weeks to get a lease, I figured I would apply now while there are still places available, but I don't want to be forced to turn a lease down because I'm still waiting on this job.

There is a nice little hostel that is cheap called the Alexander House I think. There are also tons of hotels.East Coast Law wrote:Just submitted my deposit and am visiting this weekend, any recommendations on where to stay, what to see, etc.?
To see, the law school, the university (rotunda etc.), the downtown mall, and whatever housing you are looking at. Also Monticello if you have time and like that stuff and the tons of hiking/outdoorsy stuff. There seem to be a lot of good restaurants as well.
Someone who already lives there could probably give you a better answer. Search though the UVA 2L thread for some conversation on this.
Also, just saw your profile. Congrats on getting off the waitlist.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
