Haha my UG did that too. That still doesn't solve the problem of all the traffic though. Unless there's going to be a giant parade of people wheeling to campus from another location, which I have to admit would be amazing.zanda wrote:They give you bins on wheels.

pack light and bring like 4 boxes of stuff with you to NYC.law_monkey wrote:Bring lots of monies for the ridiculous taxi waiting fee while you unload every little box that you have, and sit for hours in frustration at the mass blanket of dandelion yellow vehicles around of you. Better yet, pack light and ship your stuff to your building. The mailroom will hold it for you. Way way easier.melamine wrote:pack light and bring like 4 boxes of stuff with you to NYC.law_monkey wrote:Bring lots of monies for the ridiculous taxi waiting fee while you unload every little box that you have, and sit for hours in frustration at the mass blanket of dandelion yellow vehicles around of you. I'm just curious to do an informal poll here...
1) What did you major in during undergrad? Did you take any law / pre-law courses?
2) Any law-related work experience or otherwise?

I'll go first...
1) What did you major in during undergrad? Did you take any law / pre-law courses?
Japanese, minor in Poli Sci, only one course that could be considered pre-law
2) Any law-related work experience or otherwise?
Not really, other than political activism which has exposed me to some constitutional law and coming from a family of lawyers.

-philosophy and poli sci. here it's a 2 in 1 type of thing, not two separate
2) Any law-related work experience or otherwise?
if interning counts then one at a d.a's office and one at an in-house group

1. Dual degree in Math and Econ. I took a comparative legal systems class once...
2. Um...I watched Tom Cruise in The Firm.

Also, I'm Poli sci and creative writing. I've taken two law related class. I'm interning at a firm and doing a prelaw program this summer, but this is my first experience.

1) I ended up with two UG degrees--one in 20th Century American History, and the other in Jewish Liturgy. For real.rikkitikki wrote:I'm just curious to do an informal poll here...

2) Nope. Tried to paralegal and ended up at a foundation; before that, I worked in NYC politics.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
1) Undergrad was a long time ago, but.... I did a double major in Romance Languages & Literatures and Economics. I took one class that could be considered pre-law, an econ elective called 'economics and law'
2) I have no experience in law other than free lance writing letters for immigration officers. But I don't address any legal issues in the letters, I just sing the praises of the person who's applying for a visa. So, I'm pretty sure that doesn't count.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
I thank you for the advice, which is also what others are saying too―early access to the school/law-library is not in the cards. I think I’ll save the $375.00 rent money for three months and move in a week or two before classes start. Thanks.whathojeeves wrote:You can probably get some sort of a visitor pass to scope it out again, but I doubt they'll let you in daily.Renne Walker wrote: . . if there is no access to NYU (without being a nuisance), I will likely stay put until August. What would you suggest?
Dealing with unnecessary drama immediately before law school is silly.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
Just got off the WL so I'm new to the forum but I was wondering if anyone here is planning to bring a pet to NYU? I will not be moving with my bf but I have a dog I don't want to leave behind, and it seems more and more unfeasible to afford an apartment on a student budget that isn't a) super far or b) inhumanely small for a dog to hang out in all day.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
Congrats on getting in!!! And I'm bringing my cat with me. It's not the same as a dog since obviously she doesn't need as much space to run around, but from what I've seen Brooklyn is very pet friendly. And the commute isn't that bad depending on where you're at. Just look in the neighborhoods closer to Manhattan and you should be fine, and the prices are still reasonable.czelede wrote:Just got off the WL so I'm new to the forum but I was wondering if anyone here is planning to bring a pet to NYU?
