I feel ok. I think I have pretty strong roots in NC. It is just whether or not I painted myself as a "part" of NC...having a personal connection as opposed to a purely familial one.jdemmitt wrote:How do you feel about it?NCtoDC wrote:Ugghhh...finally submitted my Smith Shaver essay.

What are you guys doing to stay sharp during the break? I need to start reading "smart" books or playing sudoku. I am worried my brain is atrophying. Also, go jeopardy.

I play Words with Friends on my iPad. At ASD Melanie said something about reading The Innocent Man by John Grisham and Getting to Maybe. Have you read A Civil Action? I highly recommend it. I own a copy if you don't want to spend the money I can mail it to ya. Otherwise, I think the general consensus is to enjoy the last few months of freedom your brain will have for 3 years.jdemmitt wrote:What are you guys doing to stay sharp during the break? I read "1L of a ride" by Andrew McClurg. It was pretty good and I think he had some connection/taught at Wake for a little while. The first 1/3 or so is about preparing for law school and then the rest is about how to outline and stuff.
I guess both of yall applied for the SMith Shaver, have you heard of anyone else applying for it?

I applied, but I think I have a snowballs chance in hell of actually getting it. But, like others have already mentioned, I would kick myself for not at least trying to get it since I do have some ties to NC.

I really want to read The Innocent Man, does anyone have the book on a Kindle/Ipad that they could loan it to me?
John Grisham was my graduation speaker and I really wanted to read some of his books but I have been too busy with LSAT, applying, and working so haven't gotten a chance.
I am so ready to just know where I am going next year, sick of waiting

I am really hoping they factor in the NC ties more than anything else because I have those. Without redistribution, I really need this scholly or I'll be paying sticker which sucks ballsMattThiessen wrote:I applied, but I think I have a snowballs chance in hell of actually getting it. I just finished Planet Law School and am starting to work on some of the things he recommends. Let me know if you get through it, I'd definitely be interested in starting a PLS study group in the fall.jdemmitt wrote:I read the innocent man, interesting and I am waiting for planet law school to come. Re: Wake Forest University School of Law 2014
Anyone know how late we can send the Smith/Shaver essay today?
I've had to work late the past couple days and have been trying to finish it (actually at work right now, shhhh.)
I don't like being off task at work, so I may have to do the finishing touches after work this evening. How late do you think I can submit it?

I guess I will, I am just a little embarrassed asking at 3pm if I can finish the essay later in the day.jdemmitt wrote:Email jenny.
Edit: just e-mail her, if she gets back to me, I'll tell you guys how late it can be turned in.
Edit#2: she says "Just before midnight works. Thanks!"

Good find on Sugar Creek. I had not heard of those. I think you could find a nice house for the same prices an apt. Wouldn't that be more ideal for your family?jdemmitt wrote:Right now I am looking at the Enclave and at Sugar creek. Maybe the Hunt club. Any thoughts?
