As somebody under 26 in 2014, I'm staying on my parents' insurance. Yay Obamacare?

Re: NYU Class of 2014
There's NYU insurance, which is worth getting if you plan to use the NYU health center. I think its 1300 a year for the basic coverage, and you get automatically enrolled in it during registration (or at least you did as an undergrad) and then can opt out/decline if you have proof of alternative coverage.djaja wrote:got a bunch of docs in the mail today. anyone know how health insurance works when you're a student? it's been so long i've forgotten.

Can you use NYU insurance as secondary coverage?

sorry to change subjects, but how does Law Revue work> Do you have to be able to sing or dance legitimately or can anyone join and dance around like an idiot (i.e. be one of those background people?)...looks so fun but I'm soooooo challenged in the musical talent department haha.

I'd love to be in the background. I'll even play the token minority if I have to, I just want in!

With the minorities we already have in this thread alone (LM, melamine, penguin, myself, more???) there are already so many things we can do

Re: NYU Class of 2014
I've been combing through this forum and the nyu law site but can't seem to find out when we are supposed to move into student housing, when orientation begins, when early move-in would be and what the fee is for that. Would someone pleeease answer these questions for me?
I'm grateful in advance!

Re: NYU Class of 2014
The NYU site is the worst. It's kind of hidden in there.
Orientation begins August 24, and it looks like the events really don't start until the evening so the entire day is reserved for move-in.
Early move-in applications are first accepted around the beginning of July, I think. There is a page, somewhere, and I'll see if I can find it.

Thank you! I knew I saw august 24 before but the site is so hard to navigate. I appreciate itincompetentia wrote:The NYU site is the worst. It's kind of hidden in there.

I've been trying to find some NYU wallpapers to use, has anyone found any? All the pics I've seen thus far are really small and not suitable.

Djaja, can you explain what they were? Did everyone else receive these documents? I've missed some of the NYU mailings for some reason and want to make sure I request anything important that doesn't make it to my apartment.djaja wrote:got a bunch of docs in the mail today. anyone know how health insurance works when you're a student? it's been so long i've forgotten.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
I got them yesterday. It included a very general calendar (dates of holidays, exam periods, etc.), information about computer requirements and "special deals" (which are basically the same as you can get elsewhere with a student discount), a form to fill out about immunization history, reminder about on-campus housing, and that sort of thing. Not a whole lot, and the health stuff was the only "important" thing if I recall correctly.sgtgrumbles wrote:Djaja, can you explain what they were? Did everyone else receive these documents? Re: NYU Class of 2014
erghhh did anyone have trouble activating their NYU Net ID? I've tried like 5 times and it seems to be fine. Then I try to go to http://home.nyu.edu and I get this message:
"Sorry, your NetID and NYUHome account have not been activated. Please begin by activating your NetID at the ITS start page."
Anyone know what's up?

Re: NYU Class of 2014
The packet I received also contained a "college questionnaire" for the student records people at your UG to fill out. Looks like the deadline on most of this stuff is midsummer at earliest, so it's not urgent if you haven't received it yet.somewhere wrote:I got them yesterday. Does anyone have any suggestions on cheap hotels to stay in when visiting NYU? Preferably in Manhattan?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
