Anybody know if there's a facebook page for Class of 2014? I've been looking at housing options and thought it might be a good idea to figure out the roommate situation beforehand.

2L here. It's possible they've changed the policy since my only experience is from 1L year, but then the policy was that you didn't have to sign anyone in or get anyone a pass if you greet the person in the lobby (or stumble in with the person from the bar). You only needed a guest pass if you wanted the person to be able to get past security without your being there.bob77 wrote:hi everyone, bob here, nyu-bound! can we be friends mmk?
my first thought concerns the ambiguous guest policy for housing:
GUESTS/VISITORS
Visitors must be announced from the Front Desk or present a Guest Pass. Residents may have overnight guests but, in fairness to your neighbors and any apartmentmates, you must follow some established rules. You must be in attendance at all times when you have a guest. You may have overnight guests for a total of no more than seven nights per 30-day period. (A particular guest may be a guest in Law School housing for no more than seven nights per 30 day period.) The resident/licensee will need to obtain a Guest Pass for each guest, each visit; you can do this simply by stopping by the office in Mercer Residence or D'Agostino Hall. You will need written permission from your apartmentmate(s) if you are having more than one guest at a time or if your guest is staying more than three consecutive nights; both require authorization from the administration.
it says "The resident/licensee will need to obtain a Guest Pass for each guest, each visit." does this mean that if i am out on the town and i bring a friend home i will have to register my hook-up? this can't be true can it? cuz it also says "Visitors must be announced from the Front Desk or present a Guest Pass," so this makes it sound like as long as they have your permission the guest can just go on in and relations can commence.

Any discount is worth it. Been at least 10 years since I've seen a Broadway show

Yeah as long as we forget the fact that we're law students supposed to be engaged in endless studying.spacepenguin wrote:law_monkey wrote:We definitely get one, but I'm sure it depends on the show.spacepenguin wrote:glitched wrote:i seriously can't wait for broadway...

Can't speak for Mercer but the people at D'Ag aren't too tight-ass about the rules. Several times, I forgot my ID card and just flashed my driver license and they never said anything. If you're there when your guest comes in and say or somehow indicate "s/he's with me" it's fine.zanda wrote: 2L here. Congrats on Harvard! I would call the NYU admissions to ask about how to withdraw. That, or email them. You paid a $500 deposit.... is there a reason I was told to (and did) pay a $600 deposit? I thought it was $500, but when I double-checked my paper work it said $600. I wonder if they changed it this year and didn't even remember that they had?mcweanis wrote:i think i may be jumping ship for harvard.../

In UG everything depended on who was working the desk. I squatted in Broome Street for over two months, because the security guy thought I was a riot. Then they shifted people around, saw that I was signed in literally 70 odd days straight, and there were some discussions.straxen wrote:Can't speak for Mercer but the people at D'Ag aren't too tight-ass about the rules. If you've never lived in NYC... it's a good thing that they check IDs. You don't really want random people just wandering around the hallways.

I did the same at Cliff! The Water guards were always really evil though.ahduth wrote:In UG everything depended on who was working the desk. Question about rooms - the O room in D'Ag looks like it has a bigger common space than the C room in Mercer. Does anyone know how big it really is? Like big enough for a futon and tv? Is it worth the smaller rooms to have this larger common space?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
