I am sure I read this somewhere, but when should we expect to hear about financial aid?
Apologies..

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Ah I misread the question- and never knew that 250 was also referred to as 29? Anyway, good to knowYCrevolution wrote:I think the 29 arism is talking about is "Emmet Street" or "Business 29" (the old 29). The 29-250 Bypass can get crowded, but traffic usually still moves fairly smoothly. It takes around 5 minutes (perhaps less) to get from 64 to the Leonard Sandridge exit.arism87 wrote:I'm not sure exactly where you're talking about (I'm GPS dependent) but the only real traffic issue (in my opinion) in Cville is 29- leaving Cville in the afternoon rush hour, and I assume coming in in the morning. The other way doesn't seem to be an issue.sundance95 wrote:Can anyone offer insight on what 'rush hour' traffic is like down in C'ville? For example, how long would it take to get from 64 to the Leonard Sandridge off-ramp via the 29-250 bypass?
64 is fine, so I am only referring to people who are staying on 29- aka en route to DC. That can be painful. Sounds like you'd be fine

Woot, now instead of embarrassed I'm proud I talk like a local! lolYCrevolution wrote: TBF, most locals just call it the 250 Bypass or something close to that. Emmet Street used to be "the" 29 until the Bypass went up.

Ooh Cville. Kind of like how 250 is Ivy is University is Main? I think.YCrevolution wrote:And if a local says a place is on "29," they probably mean 29 Business/Emmet Street/Seminole Trail (all the same physical road).arism87 wrote:Woot, now instead of embarrassed I'm proud I talk like a local! lolYCrevolution wrote: TBF, most locals just call it the 250 Bypass or something close to that. Has anyone taken a look at the university health plan? It looks pretty pricey -- anyone just going go out and get private insurance?

Is anyone familiar with the Corner Village on wertland?
Is it nice, close to the law school, etc?
Thanks!

The apartments are ok- pretty basic. It's a good walk to the law school, not sure what buses would be like. You'd be pretty much surrounded by undergrads- Wertland St in general is heavily populated with them.socraticmethodman wrote:Is anyone familiar with the Corner Village on wertland?

Hmmm... I found an efficiency on Wertland, and the Management claimed the building has a good mix of undergrad/graduate students. I am hoping it is true because there is a slight possibility I might not be able to make it to ASW in April. By the way, when you say Wertland is a good walk to school, you mean like 20-30 mins walk?

Re: UVA Class of 2014
I'd guess it's probably 1.5-2 miles and pretty on a nice day- not so much on a rainy day. There may be some particular buildings with grad students but I lived on Wertland for a year in undergrad and never knew a grad student in the area. Then again, I wasn't really seeking them out.LLB2JD wrote:arism87 wrote:The apartments are ok- pretty basic. It's a good walk to the law school, not sure what buses would be like. (Side note: if you live on Wertland, the higher the number the better- 10th Street is sketchy.)

I don't recommend living on the Corner as a 1L. Not many 1Ls/law students live there and there's a fine line between the good places to live on the Corner and the awful ones. It's also probably louder there and noise shouldn't be one of your concerns when you're worrying about 1L exams. You'll be happy about living there if you plan to stumble out of bars at 2 AM routinely but it's not like cabs are so expensive that this should be a major factor.

This. Cabs back to Arlington are like $5, and if you're too cheap for that, it's only a 20 minute walk.gladiator wrote:I don't recommend living on the Corner as a 1L. Can law students use safe ride? It's elusive when you're sober, but you can ALWAYS find it if you're blackout..YCrevolution wrote:UVA buses (Northline specifically) do have nighttime schedules, too.Cavalier wrote:This. Haha thanks. I was half-kidding, but it is good to know!YCrevolution wrote:I think they can (if you have your ID with you), I just don't think many law students use it.arism87 wrote: Can law students use safe ride? It's elusive when you're sober, but you can ALWAYS find it if you're blackout..

So has anyone heard anything out of the Jeffersonian? Haven't heard a peep since the email about my position on the list and wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
