Can anyone offer insight on what 'rush hour' traffic is like down in C'ville? For example, how long would it take to get from 64 to the Leonard Sandridge off-ramp via the 29-250 bypass?

I'm not sure exactly where you're talking about (I'm GPS dependent) but the only real traffic issue (in my opinion) in Cville is 29- leaving Cville in the afternoon rush hour, and I assume coming in in the morning. The other way doesn't seem to be an issue.

64 is fine, so I am only referring to people who are staying on 29- aka en route to DC. That can be painful. Sounds like you'd be fine

I think the 29 arism is talking about is "Emmet Street" or "Business 29" (the old 29). The 29-250 Bypass can get crowded, but traffic usually still moves fairly smoothly. It takes around 5 minutes (perhaps less) to get from 64 to the Leonard Sandridge exit.

Ah I misread the question- and never knew that 250 was also referred to as 29? Anyway, good to know

TBF, most locals just call it the 250 Bypass or something close to that. Emmet Street used to be "the" 29 until the Bypass went up.

And if a local says a place is on "29," they probably mean 29 Business/Emmet Street/Seminole Trail (all the same physical road).

Thanks much. Does anybody have any thoughts about family housing? Edit: University Gardens looks like the best deal on campus, but I'm curious about what the square footage of e.g., a two-bedroom unit is there. Also wondering if there are better deals off campus. Nevermind. After a little research, University Gardens is not an option.

The apartments are ok- pretty basic. It's a good walk to the law school, not sure what buses would be like. You'd be pretty much surrounded by undergrads- Wertland St in general is heavily populated with them.

I am hoping it is true because there is a slight possibility I might not be able to make it to ASW in April. I'd guess it's probably 1.5-2 miles and pretty on a nice day- not so much on a rainy day. There may be some particular buildings with grad students but I lived on Wertland for a year in undergrad and never knew a grad student in the area. Then again, I wasn't really seeking them out.
(Side note: if you live on Wertland, the higher the number the better- 10th Street is sketchy.)

It's also probably louder there and noise shouldn't be one of your concerns when you're worrying about 1L exams. You'll be happy about living there if you plan to stumble out of bars at 2 AM routinely but it's not like cabs are so expensive that this should be a major factor.

UVA buses (Northline specifically) do have nighttime schedules, too.

Can law students use safe ride? It's elusive when you're sober, but you can ALWAYS find it if you're blackout..

I think they can (if you have your ID with you), I just don't think many law students use it.
