Are we assigned to sections automatically, or do we get a choice? I'm guessing if sections are assigned, then so are first semester professors, right?

You are assigned automatically, but you can make special requests to change sections.

As for professors, they are determined based entirely upon your section.

Special requests are very special. I've only heard of them being granted because spouses didn't want to be in the same section, child care, commuting schedule, etc. They won't grant just because you want a particular professor or are opposed to early mornings for example. Nor will you know your section until like the week or two before orientation.

ETA: Irish or Mexican Coffee!! Goes with dessert and has both booze And caffeine!

I spy a pretty kick ass Class of 2014 at Michigan and I want to be a part of it! Let us all pray for some WL movement with my name on it so I can make my way back up to Ann Arbor in the fall.
