I'm in the Chi, Penn, and UVA FB groups... when I joined the first one, everyone on my FB thought I'd decided. I was like uhmmm no... wait is it weird to join official groups??

lol oh well. I'm in the three of them and will be until I start hearing about the moneys.

Ive never really understood how Chicago got stuck with the "Rigor" tag. I mean, HLS has a movie/book about how competitive it is(or was) and everyone is always talking about how they know someone who knows someone who said Columbia is hardcore/cutthroat/meat grinder. I think for Chicago it comes as a side effect of their econ rep. and law students' irrational fear that they may be asked to do math.

I blame the quarter system. Here's how the school year kinda looks like:

1st half Q1 -- Learning how to read cases/legalese/etc.
2nd half Q2 -- Finals #1

1st half Q2 -- Open Memo
2nd half Q2 -- Finals #2

1st half Q3 -- Brief
2nd half Q3 -- Finals #3

I don't think Chicago students necessarily work harder or more than other schools, but I think the timing is spread out so you're ALWAYS doing something. Of course there's all these little gaps in between where you can effectively go out and have a good time, but for the most part you have things going on all the time. Other schools seem to be much more back-heavy.

As for the "snapshot" of the school, I'd say the duck fella is right on point with his assessment of Day in the Life. Frankly, the other dude's post would've scared the crap out of me if I was a 0L. Then again, I very well could have been the person he was referring to when they seemed like they had no idea what they were talking about in class. Which reminds me... time to study. Keep this thread going 0Ls. I enjoy the enthusiasm. (even if the rigor is a myth)

This thread is clearly superior to their threads. It is also indicative of the fun that will be had at Chi. Just saying.

I've definitely had the most fun in this thread. I was hanging out in UVA's 2014 thread, but got bored. Have not looked in Penn's...

I can't wait for ASW. Why can't it be tomorrow?

The quarter system seemed so great last quarter... even though we start a month later than everyone else, it seems normal to be studying for finals in December. This quarter, the quarter system and I are no longer friends. I should not have to study in February. My brain doesn't compute that.

haha i changed it right before you posted this I guess. I've been meaning to change it for awhile, but I was to lazy. But today it seemed like the perfect study break.

And yes it is a lot like the evil plant in Mario (which is an even better reason for me to change it, i hate that damn plant, it always beats me in mariokart).
