I'm going to move in on Wednesday, most likely. Just easier than dealing with any early move-in issues.
For what it's worth, I tracked down the 2010 orientation sched...the Wednesday itinerary looked something like this:

9:00-5:00 Move in
6:00-8:00 Movie Night

Ugh, I haven't even thought about buying a flight!

I looked at the schedule as well. It seems like it's going to be an intense few days that won't leave you much time to get acclimated with your surroundings. Maybe moving in early isn't such a bad idea and like birdlaw117 mentioned, the fee is cheaper than a hotel.

Electives: Con Law, Corporations, Taxation, International, Property

FIRST SEMESTER: Note that sections 1-3 and 5 require 9am starts 5 days a week, whereas section 4 has a delayed Thurs start and Tuesday mornings completely blank. (Combine that with 3 of the profs I want and I'm going to hope damn hard for section 4.)
Note also that sections 1, 2, and 5 have Wednesday and Friday afternoons completely off, and section 3 gets Wednesday afternoons off as well. (Having to deal with Miller has something to do with section 3's kind of strange sched, except when it doesn't.)

SECOND SEMESTER: All five sections pretty much follow the same schedule, although they take different classes in each block. Three days a week at 9am, and the other two days with a late start. Mon/Weds/Thurs are late days, but that means Tuesday and Friday you're out pretty early. The fact that you're only taking 14.5 credits (17 class hours) vs. 15.5 credits (18 class hours) makes a small but noticeable difference in the amount of time you have, it seems

Awesome, thanks. Now who really wants to show off their gunning bona fides by putting these sections in spreadsheets in Excel or Google Docs or something? Like, M - F columns, 9am - 3pm rows, etc? Any takers?

Hey everyone,

I am planning on living in a double suite in Mercer, and was wondering if anyone else was thinking about doing the same? I am also curious if anyone is looking for a roommate.

I am a 22 year old male, coming straight from undergrad, and have spent my whole life in ny. I am pretty laid back and easy to live with. I study really hard, and definitely plan to do so next year, but also want to socialize a decent amount and meet a bunch of new people. Pretty big sports fan, like to go to the gym 3-4 days a week. Not really sure what else to say, pm if you are potentially interested and want to catch up a little.

That's awesome, somewhere.

I just booked plane tickets for the first semester and will be depositing tomorrow. I'm an anxious wreck right now leaving the Bay Area, but I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the Fall.

Gunner fistbump. Right here, bro.

I'm not sure whether I'm not neurotic enough or too neurotic to try to pull this in class. I guess we're about to find out.

Activating my NYU email is the most complex thing I have ever attempted. I go to start.nyu.edu, and it wants my NetID. I say I don't have one, and it wants my University ID. I have none of these informations.

It was pretty annoying, but I was determined to get it done quickly. Not because of the importance of setting up my email, but to sign up for my free Amazon Prime student account.

Priorities.

Should I have gotten an email with my NetID?

Once you've gotten your NetID, go to home.nyu.edu and from there you can access/set-up your email.

Okay, so I should get a separate email from this "deposit received" email.

You got a "deposit received" email?

Is this equivalent to the 10-day notification? I called, they said they'd received my deposit, and that I should be getting an email within the next week or two.

Did anyone who deposited through snail mail get a confirmation? I talked to the office and they said they received my stuff but I still haven't gotten any email confirm and my check hasn't cleared, anyone else in the same boat?

Yeah. (deposited online)
Thank you for submitting your Intent to Enroll and your tuition deposit. We are delighted that you have decided to attend the NYU School of Law, and we look forward to welcoming you in August.

INFORMATION FOR NEWLY DEPOSITED STUDENTS
Please remember to update your contact information if it should change. You may do this at our Admitted Students Web site: http://www.law.nyu.edu/admittedstudents

By following the directions below, you will be able to establish an NYU email address. If you would like us to reach you at this email, please update your contact information.

You may now start taking advantage of some of the technology offered to NYU School of Law students. Please follow the directions below to obtain your NetID and to set-up your NYUHome Account.

Step 1: Obtain your Net ID
Your Net ID is a unique alphanumeric identifier that NYU assigns to you (e.g., xyz111). Your Net ID is needed to access your NYUHome account (see below). To find your Net ID and create a password, please go to http://start.nyu.edu and follow the prompts.

Step 2: Access your NYUHome Account
The NYUHome Account is a free account given to all students who maintain a current status at the Law School. The account provides students with a personal portal to many web-based services and tools, including email, Blackboard, research tools, and more.

You may access your NYUHome Account at http://home.nyu.edu.

*** You may obtain your University ID and NYU email address under the Preferences tab. Please note, you will need to obtain your University ID in order to submit an application to live in our residence halls.

Upon enrollment, all law students are required to activate their NYUHome email account; this will be the email address that some members of the law school community will use to communicate with students. Once the account is activated, students can log on to their NYUHome account from any computer with Internet access. Students will have the option to forward their NYUHome email messages to a designated email account.

To activate your NYU Home Account at http://home.nyu.edu, you will need your Net ID and a password that you create (see above).

Applying for NYU School of Law Housing
The housing application for entering students will be live by Thursday, February 24 on the Residence Services Web site (http://editweb.law.nyu.edu/housing/index.htm) . We are pleased to inform you that the housing rates for the 2011-12 academic year have not been increased. Law School housing, offering numerous amenities, advantageous rates, and an ideal NYC location, is a wonderful option for all students.

Yeah, I tried that before. I'm going to call them. I love calling into the NYU bureaucracy. So many menus and so much hold time.

TBH, I think I might already have both a NetID and a university ID - I went to NYU for UG. But I haven't the faintest clue what they are.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
