Re: UVA Class of 2014
From my personal experience, the older students don't tend to be real tight with the softball fanatics or the Feb Club crowd (or at least the people I predict will be the Feb Club crowd next week), but beyond that the divide is hardly noticeable and certainly not antagonistic. I'm one of the younger students in my section and two of my favorite people are thirty-somethings with a fiance and a baby girl, respectively. Sometimes I actually prefer hanging around older students b/c they're drama-free and less clique-y in general.r6_philly wrote:Do they mix well with the younger students? I have not had any problem so far with other younger grad students (well I look like about 27 or so, it helps) I wonder if the culture there would be similar?YCrevolution wrote:I think the average UVA 1L is 24-25. That said, there is definitely an older-student contingent. It's not huge, but it exists.r6_philly wrote:Should I be concerned to be one of the oldest there? I think the packet said age range up to 37. Does that mean it's a pretty young crowed? (I had to ask since beer pong was discussed - which I love btw)

It's not how old you are, it's how old you act. There are some people around 30 that are very much integrated with the "in" crowd because they act like everyone else. Those that make the effort to be social will be welcomed regardless of age.r6_philly wrote:Should I be concerned to be one of the oldest there? I think the packet said age range up to 37. Does anyone know if we are required to send a transcript directly from our school even if we have already graduated? Do we send it to the admissions office or the main address?

Yes we still have to send one in, and just put the Massie Road law school address and "attention: Admissions Office" on the transcript request.luckyme wrote:Does anyone know if we are required to send a transcript directly from our school even if we have already graduated? Unlike high school, the law school social pyramid is not built on destroying the lives of others but it still exists to some extent.r6_philly wrote:I have a picture of Mean Girls in my head.alex_cryp wrote:yikes. . .the "in" crowd. . .have not heard that phrase since high school. . .

I wouldn't call physically unable to drink as "sucking"... you better work on softball then! Or unless you don't want to be the "in" crowd, then you can hang out with me.Whatsawahooanyway wrote: Hmm, that's sort of personal... If you want a full report of my medical history, feel free to PM me.

Yeah sucking at drinking = you always end up getting sick and/or passing out in inappropriate places and getting thrown out of bars/arrested, thus making yourself an inconvenience to those around your6_philly wrote:I wouldn't call physically unable to drink as "sucking"... you better work on softball then! Not drinking (but still being fun) = acceptable
IMHO

I'm kind of wishing UVA would switch to kickball...you have no idea how much that would sway my decision.
