Should I be concerned to be one of the oldest there? I think the packet said age range up to 37. Does that mean it's a pretty young crowed? (I had to ask since beer pong was discussed - which I love btw)

I think the average UVA 1L is 24-25. That said, there is definitely an older-student contingent. It's not huge, but it exists.

<------- Still younger than almost all of the 1Ls.

Do they mix well with the younger students? I have not had any problem so far with other younger grad students (well I look like about 27 or so, it helps) I wonder if the culture there would be similar?

From my personal experience, the older students don't tend to be real tight with the softball fanatics or the Feb Club crowd (or at least the people I predict will be the Feb Club crowd next week), but beyond that the divide is hardly noticeable and certainly not antagonistic. I'm one of the younger students in my section and two of my favorite people are thirty-somethings with a fiance and a baby girl, respectively. Sometimes I actually prefer hanging around older students b/c they're drama-free and less clique-y in general.

It's not how old you are, it's how old you act. There are some people around 30 that are very much integrated with the "in" crowd because they act like everyone else. Those that make the effort to be social will be welcomed regardless of age.

Yes we still have to send one in, and just put the Massie Road law school address and "attention: Admissions Office" on the transcript request.

I wouldn't call physically unable to drink as "sucking"... you better work on softball then! Or unless you don't want to be the "in" crowd, then you can hang out with me.

Yeah sucking at drinking = you always end up getting sick and/or passing out in inappropriate places and getting thrown out of bars/arrested, thus making yourself an inconvenience to those around you

Not drinking (but still being fun) = acceptable
