Thanks!
FlanAl wrote:Hey so there isn't anything in the email (a couples weeks ago with deadlines etc. from cornblatt) about this june 1st financial aid deadline. I'm not sure if I read it correctly but does this mean we have to have all of our loan stuff taken care of by the 1st (MPN, counseling session etc.). If we do this can we still get loans to go to a different school? thanks
You need to fill out the Blue Form by June 1st, but on the Blue Form it says that you need to complete the entrance counseling by the first week of August. I'm not sure about the MPN.

So has anyone tried to set up their GULC email address yet? This is needlessly fucking complicated.

Yeah, I got mine up. I've been confused by the username vs. NetID thing, but I got mine all set up and immediately signed up for Amazon Student. A year of free two-day shipping, hooray!

Okay, I got the email account set up. That was on me for not reading the directions thoroughly. The number of different passwords, and the inability to customize your email address/crappy standardized addresses are both worthy of complaint, though.

I concur. I also think we should start a rebellion to overthrow the MSN Hotmail platform and replace with Google Apps.

Agreed, what is this garbage. Nevermind.
If anybody figures out how to set it up with the Applie Mail client I could use some help. Didn't even bother trying with my iPhone yet.

You have to set it up to forward in your outlook, and then you can set the rest up in gmail settings.

Anyone able to set the email account up in Apple Mail? I was able to set i up as an IMAP account, but not as Exchange, even though Apple Mail supports Exchange. There are no instructions on the website for setting it up in Apple Mail. The technology services website doesn't seem to have been updated since March 2009! Any help would be appreciated. I did get it set up on my iPhone easily.

What's the difference? In all seriousness is there advantages to setting it up as an exchange account as opposed to imap?

For some reason my temporary password stopped working (it worked yesterday!) and in order to reset it I have to fill out a form, sign it, include a copy of my DRIVERS LICENSE, and MAIL IT IN. all to get my password reset.
/end rant.
but, seriously????????????

It is the ridiculousness. Are our NetID passwords supposed to be working? I can get into my email, but not into the regular login stuff. I'm afraid I might have to go through the same stupid process.

I have the opposite, can't log onto email but can get into the regular stuff. The it people just stopped answering my emails. I hope this is not how things generally operate at gulc...

Anyone know where we are supposed to mail (or if we are even supposed mail) the photocopies of our parents tax returns and our tax returns? It says this as a requirment on the deadlines page but doesn't give any detail. I've emailed the financial aid office a few times and gotten zero response. I've managed to do everything else but this deadline is getting pretty close. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

People who received the Dean's tuition grant are supposed to send in tax returns and you can fax them to the financial aid office or mail them to them. But since the deadline is so close faxing seems like the best option.

I have no clue if it is really due June 1st, but I just did it all to be on the safe side. (On the financial aid website, it says that you need to complete the entrance counseling and MPNs before filling out the Blue Form. On the actual Blue Form, it says to complete the entrance counseling by the first week of August...)
You can find the Blue Form and all the instructions here:

I completed everything, including the MPNs and entrance counseling, but on MyAccess+, it still says they're incomplete. Anyone else seeing the same?

I had the same problem with the incomplete financial aid requirements. I e-mailed financial aid earlier this month and after eight days I received this response:
"In regards to completing the Entrance Counseling, MyAccess will not display this requirement as having been completed until later in the summer, but rest assured it will be updated then if you completed the counseling."
That said, they marked all of my requirements--including Entrance Counseling--as "complete" not too long after they responded to my e-mail.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
