Re: NYU Class of 2014
NYU's housing "priority deadline" is May 15, so that's what I'm worried about here myself.
I don't think there's anything else that's pressing, at least at the moment.
Might as well add another forwarding address to the gmail account and what not, though...

I dunno, the email looks looong. It looks like it would take me well over 5 minutes to read it.shanemahsa wrote:Not sure but it takes less than 5 minutes.ahduth wrote:Do we need to get in for anything other than housing? I got the email, I've been too lazy to actually do it though.incompetentia wrote:Just called admissions. They told me I'd be receiving my email with all the crap in it "by the end of the week after next".
Way to stick to 10 days, guys. (Still can't get in)
I may read Game of Thrones instead.

Ah, thanks for the compliments on my dog! He has a lot of personality; I wouldn't call him a traditional 'little dog' at all. Sometimes I wish he were more aware of his size relative to other dogs.
Handed in my deposit today with check.
As for living arrangements, I plan to live in my apartment uptown in Washington Heights. It's a block from the A train (which drops off a block from the LS), it's a 1-bed, quite large and quite cheap. The area used to a be an all immigrant / Dominican neighborhood, but in the last year a sizable number of hipsters have started to move in.

I guess since I only post, like, once a week that makes me a lurker. I can't believe how much activity there is on this board...

Re: NYU Class of 2014
I don't mind hipsters -- provided they don't take over the neighborhood and raise the rent prices around here. There are many more on the other side of the GW bridge and less on my side. Not sure what to say about my neighborhood. I like being surrounded by parks (there's a small park near my house w/ a dog park), there's Fort Tryon Park (which is very pretty), and there's the Greenway along the Hudson. The A train (which I get at 175th - from my apt. on 176th) runs express from 125 to 59th, so it's very convenient for getting downtown. My reference point is the trip downtown that I would have when I lived in Morningside Heights as a grad student. It's faster for me to meet my friends in midtown from 176th than it was from 112th because of how the trains work out. If you live in my neighborhood, you should definitely live to the west of Broadway. The apartments are nicer. I really feel safe in my neighborhood - though I'm certain there's quite a bit of drug deals going on under my nose. The area is really mixed though, in terms of ages. And people are out on the street (in a good way - a makes-you-feel-safe way) and very nice. Like most NY neighborhoods, you've got everything here (groceries, pharmacies, wash-and-folds, nail parlors, restaurants, basically the usual suspects). If you're looking for very hip, my hood is probably not the best place for you. But it is a very good deal if you want space (my apartment is about 600 sq/ft and I currently pay $931 - which includes heat and water). It doesn't get a lot of sunlight in the main room, but that's really my only complaint.

I'm starting to think that the facebook group is starting to steal some of this thread's thunder.

NEVER!!! We just need to have all of our conversations twice. But the group used to be dead until people finally started joining. It makes me happy.spacepenguin wrote:I'm starting to think that the facebook group is starting to steal some of this thread's thunder.

A closed group is searchable through facebook, but you must be invited to a secret group (I think).ahduth wrote:What's the difference between closed and secret.law_monkey wrote:NEVER!!! People can see all our content in a closed group, even if they're not in it.
Sekrit makes it so that all our personal deetz are not out.
(Chi contingent informed me of the issue earlier, and it's probably better just in case)

I'm not gonna lie. I have a secret fear that the TLSers are the gunners because we have put so much more into our cycles than other people. If we've been this crazy the whole time, I can only imagine next year.shanemahsa wrote:TLSers have the most interesting senses of humor.spacepenguin wrote: Missile launch codes are the only difference.

I'm pretty sure we all know law_monkey is going to be the biggest gunner at NYU. I don't know why she's trying to hide it so hard...

So since we're all gunners; what is everyone specifically gunning for? Awesome PI jobs, biglaw, clerkships, Ryan Reynolds body double, seducing undergrads, etc?
