If you want thoughts on the new dean (and the old dean), you need to read the last few pages of the Questions and Challenges thread. Current students are saying interesting things.

I posted all of the thoughts that I'm qualified to know, which are basically that he seems nice.

The diversity orientation email that went out today sent a shiver down my spine--can't believe that's less than a month away. Looking forward to seenig you guys on the 19th at 7:00; I'll keep you guys posted on the details, but do mark your calendars.

I was thinking of doing another FB get-together, but I'm kind of avoiding FB, for fear that I will join someone's baseball/basketball/wrestling/bridge/underwater basketweaving group.

If I make it it's b/c I've successfully explained to my wife and kid that my new internet friends are more important than them now

So thus far, we're a group of people who hang out together online and will consist of Mickey Mouse, a camel, a dog, a few cartoon characters, several nudists, and upperclassmen to crash us. Sounds like either a swingin' orgy or a really bad Dungeons & Dragons party. Let's just call it the TLS Orgy...

If you have a new favorite hangout to suggest, let me know--off the top of my head I'm thinking Citizen in River North might be nice. They have an indoor area for bad weather but also have a rooftop and patio bar if it's a nice night. Or, we can stay in Streeterville--I want to do whatever makes you guys feel the most comfortable/least nerdy. If you want to do the Signature Lounge, great; if you're broke and want to swill beer at Pippins, I'm fine with that too. Let me know, and we can hammer out the plan.

Yes, SOs are fine, but do let me know if you're bringing a spouse/special friend/escort, so I can get a semi-accurate headcount.

Its been a damned long time since I've posted here. I might be down for a get together on the 17th. I'd vote not streeterville, only because once classes start, no one will get out of that place. There are some great hangs north, or even out west near me in Wicker Park / Bucktown.
