Re: Michigan Class of 2014
Any tips/advice for those who have visited on a Saturday? I know it's not ideal, but with work, it's all I could swing. Are you able to see the law library, and in general, get a feel for the campus?

E-mail the admissions office. I'm sure they can find someone (a student in the LC) to give you a tour. The library/reading room and building are open Sat...just no classes in session.pialltheway wrote:Any tips/advice for those who have visited on a Saturday? In other news, writing rejection emails to school is surprisingly hard to do! Some of the admissions staffs have been so kind and helpful, I really want to let them down easy. Sort of a, it's not you, it's me/Michigan deal.

Dean X and the [Insert Law School here] admissions committee:
Thank you for your offer of admission to [insert Law School here]. After much deliberation, I have decided to pursue my legal studies at another institution. I appreciate your time and consideration during the admissions process.
Sincerely,

Brevity is generally not my strong suit and I sort of feel like I need to explain myself or thank them for their consideration, but that template is really good. I'll probably send something like that to the mean schools that waitlisted me or Still haven't gotten back to me (
I'm looking at you, Cornell!).

I figured they probably get a couple of hundred of these and would appreciate the brevity. Of course, I haven't had any personal interaction with any admissions staff except at U Mich.whirledpeas86 wrote:Brevity is generally not my strong suit and I sort of feel like I need to explain myself or thank them for their consideration, but that template is really good. My letters were very similar to er doctor's letters. It was probably a little bitchy, but I sent it moments after receiving the WL invitation.TheLastStraw05 wrote:Thank you for your careful consideration. I am afraid that I will not be able to accept the position on your waitlist. I have been accepted with a scholarship at the University of Michigan and would not attend Penn Law if admitted off of the waitlist.

But seriously, I'll gladly be a cynic... *ahem* realist... with you at Michigan.

The Big House on GAME DAY is a thing to behold. Biggest stadium in the US. Third biggest in the world. Every game has had over 100,000 attendees since 1975 (Ann Arbor's population... 114,000).InvictusFortis wrote:Does anyone plan on getting football tickets?

This sounds incredible. Home games must be insanely fun.thelaststraw05 wrote:The Big House on GAME DAY is a thing to behold. Biggest stadium in the US. Third biggest in the world. Do you know if they employ a lottery system for tickets? Someone told me there is a section for law students.

Get them. Easy to resell on the listserve. This year I went to 2 or 3 games for free...and sold rest for enough to pay for entire season (especially if you don't care about the big rivalry games).InvictusFortis wrote:Does anyone plan on getting football tickets?
Make sure you join the LAW seating group the Admissions office will give you...much better seats. I was row 9 last year.

I don't think they have needed a lottery system. Current students buy first but I haven't heard of any grad students who didn't get this year that wanted them.InvictusFortis wrote:This sounds incredible. Pretty sure I'm getting tickets. How easy would it be to find tickets for my wife, too? How does the trading them in for regular admission tickets thing work?

Let's see how it works with seating. If it goes by row and you sit next whomever, maybe we can trade a couple of games during the year.sanguar wrote:Pretty sure I'm getting tickets. Re: Michigan Class of 2014
I went with my husband to a few games this season and had no issues getting tickets via the law school listserv. You might have to pay a premium for the bigger games though. For the games that are lame, you can get them for below student face value. In the student section, they only care that you are sitting in your assigned section, the actual row and seat number don't matter. As a result, you just need to find a tickets in the same section to be able to sit together.InvictusFortis wrote:Let's see how it works with seating. As for validating tickets for non-students, you go to the box office anytime before the day of the game and get it validated. They put a sticker on the ticket and charge you like $30. You can also find another student who looks sort of like your wife (i.e. not an asian dude if your wife has red hair and freckles) and borrow their M-Card. Not that i've ever done that.

OK guys I just got back from Northwestern ASW Day 1 and I really feel that it is not the right school for me. Meaning, all I have to do is convince the S.O. and I will be coming to Michigan!

You know, I know this is a petty compared to people furloughed but I wonder if the govt shutdown is going to fuck up our student aid. The last shutdown lasted a while right?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
