Note. That figure represents full time legal / JD Preferred employment. I'm sure at graduation 60% or so had some kind of part/full time employment (the US News gamed figure).
Our class had it rough. A number of folks graduated Magna Cum Laude and didn't have a job lined up.

During the first few days there will be all kinds of free stuff from Lexis/Barbri/West etc. Take all of it. You deserve it for all the tuition you'll be paying.
Also. The first few days aren't serious at all. Don't spend much time with the litigation/business basics nonsense they fill that week with. Use that time for happy hour and meeting people. That first week is awesome.

I'm curious: Where did you rank, and what (if any) E&Es/prep books do you recommend?

Slightly better than median.
I'd recommend torts/contracts 1L year. However, I'd really try and use the big green hornbooks in the library if your prof chooses to use a multi jurisdictional approach and/or covers the UCC in depth.
Also. I'd try and get to the library before the semester starts and check out the E and Es. There are a few copies and they'll go the first week of school if you don't get them. It'll save you a few bucks.

We are looking for one more person, and then we will begin our search for a 4 bedroom in and around Center City. I put a few e-mails out for showings on some places in the range of $2000-$3000. No gender preference...Right now we have 2 males and 1 female. 2 from the area and 1 from out of state. A good mix of full-time and part-time students, as well. It is a good opportunity.
PM me if you are interested.

One of the girls in the Facebook group is trying to get something together in like the second week of August or something... They were taking suggestions on the time/place but nothing was definite yet. The same girl had a meetup organized in SFO over the weekend, so shes clearly got s--t together in terms of organizing, so it stands a good chance of actually happening.Peace of Mind wrote:What camping trip?arvcondor wrote:No, but I am most definitely going on the camping trip if that realizes.
Also there's an informal meet and greet in Philly on the 15th, but they (our classmates) are planning more as it gets closer to the start of school including a possible Phillies game.

Saw the post about the Philly's game. I love baseball and have always wanted to see a game at CPB. If that materializes I'll be pretty excited.

Oh ok, awesome! I'm not part of the facebook group yet but I love camping so I'd go if I'm in Philly at that time. I'm assuming it will be in PA.x7227 wrote:One of the girls in the Facebook group is trying to get something together in like the second week of August or something... The 15th of August? I plan on moving out there on the weekend of August 14th, maybe earlier but pretty set on the 14th.
Phillies game sound great too!

I have to see if Phillies fans really are as crazy, if not crazier than Dodger fans!

Re: Temple Class of 2014
After running the numbers I have decided I will be withdrawing from all waitlists with the exception of Notre Dame(Dream School) and UC Davis(so I have a CA option). Based on the overall COA at my waitlist schools and Temple(with $$) I can only justify paying sticker for Notre Dame. I will still probably withdraw from UCD by the end of June but that's one I still see as a viable option at this point.
I was one of those T10 or bust people for so long, but considering I DO NOT want Biglaw period!!! I do not need to put myself in all that debt to be forced into a job I will be miserable in just to pay back a mountain of debt. I have realized the added tuition just is not worth it, I'd rather take the money and run.
See you all in the Fall (barring an acceptance at Notre Dame).
...I know I write a lot, I blame my major.

Here's to hoping we never meet in person (and you're off to one of your dream schools in the fall). I wont be disappointed if we do get to meet though. For TLSers, everyone in the Temple forum seems pretty chill, peace of mind doubly so...remember I qualify that with 'for TLSers' so don't let your egos run all wild.Peace of Mind wrote:After running the numbers I have decided I will be withdrawing from all waitlists with the exception of Notre Dame(Dream School) and UC Davis(so I have a CA option). Thank you! I hope so too but I know I will not be doing myself a disservice attending Temple, so I am very happy with my choice thus far!Justathought wrote:Congrats on your decision Peace of Mind. I hope you get into ND, but if not, I look forward to having you as a classmate!

I wouldn't let me ego run wild when it comes to my chillness... I can be pretty stressed too lol

I'm also on a few waitlists at the moment: GW, IU-B, W&M, and Cardozo.
Next Friday I sign my lease, so that is essentially D-day for me. Honestly, the only school that is more appealing than Temple at the moment is GW, where my cousin recently graduated. She had a really positive experience there, so that would be something to consider. I think its unlikely that I'll be admitted(especially by next Friday), and I since couldn't be more impressed with Temple, I'm very happy with my cycle.

Good luck on getting in off the waitlist soon! Who knows... they might surprise you!

Not being from philly... what would you say you like the most about temple?

Re: Temple Class of 2014
It was really the total package that made Temple the best fit. I wanted to go to a school which was highly regarded in its region. I felt that most of my other choices, even higher ranked schools, faced much fiercer competition in their respective regions. Temple is beloved in Philadelphia(obviously a major city), and only second to Penn, which as has been discussed here ad nauseam, sends most of its grads to other markets.Peace of Mind wrote: Not being from philly... what would you say you like the most about temple?
The cost was right, and since my family has a vacation home in northern PA, I might even be able to swing instate for years 2 and 3, though I am not counting on that.
I loved the school when I visited. The campus is impressive, the class I sat in on was awesome, and all the other potential students were very well credentialed. Temple has higher numbers than most similarly ranked schools. So much so, that were it not for Villanova taking our jobs

Finally, the city of Philadelphia is pretty darn great. I was not expecting to be impressed, since I'm a snobby New Yorker. However, it has a lot to offer - much more than a law student will have time to enjoy. There is world class dining, art, amazing history, pro sports galore, and that "big city" feel to which I am so accustomed and so hesitant to abandon. Oh yeah, and its cheap - like half the price of NYC.
That's basically it. Despite the fact that Temple should be paying me for writing such a glowing review, that is generally how I feel about the place.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
