Bedioun: I stand corrected. after looking at hotel prices, I am down to share a room. You think if we requested they could put certain people together? I am going to be traveling solo as well.

I hope they reimburse my entire ticket price. Airfare with only a month's notice is not cheap, no matter where you are coming from. Southwest was the cheapest option overall, especially given the fact that I dont have to pay $23 each way to check a bag. Yeah Im looking at YOU Delta ::side eye::nelaw2010 wrote:For anyone curious about travel reimbursement.
I just got the email today. They will reimburse a certain amount, depending on where ur coming from.
I think I may just go ahead and accept the free room. If my roommate is a creeper, I'll just throw her the stank eye and put on my iPod, lol!

Just accepted! I checked out the campus last weekend, and if you haven't visited I suggest you do. I LOVED IT, but I could see why some people wouldn't.

I booked my room. I used priceline name your own price and got the Holiday Inn at 80, possibly could have gotten it even cheaper. They are reimbursing 50 a night so after taxes I'll be paying about 40 a night which I'm okay with. Gas won't be a problem since they reimburse up to 500 and there's no way it will cost that much to drive from MI. I'm excited!

You should be just fine from NY to Indianapolis. You'll have to rent a car after that, but that is pretty affordable - usually can grab a rent-a-car for ~$20/day if you go cheap. Doing a quick scan, you can find a number of options for under $250.cowgirl_bebop wrote:I hope they reimburse my entire ticket price. From the email, they'll reimburse "for airfare or mileage up to $350. The University will only reimburse for economy-class airfare."

oooh, are there different amounts they're reimbursing for different folks? If so, my previous post may be inaccurate.cerulean87 wrote:I booked my room. Haha apparently. My email said 500. Could be a difference in scholarship levels. Still only 50 for the room though :/TommyK wrote:oooh, are there different amounts they're reimbursing for different folks? I think 99% of the people will really like it. However, if you are the type that needs to live in a NYC or Boston this may not be your scene (Ironic I know given my sn!).CanadianWolf wrote:newyorkqueens; Why would some not like the campus ? Thanks.

Ahh, so you were a full ride. I was $120k.cerulean87 wrote:Haha apparently. My email said 500. Could be a difference in scholarship levels. So $120k = $350 in travel
full ride = $500
Anybody who got the $105k want to chime in? Not that it matters, I guess. Just curious.

Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
Im actually flying from BWI to IND, which ran me $263. They are picking us up from the airport, so I dont have to worry about getting from Indy to Bloomington. I cant drive anyway (I dont have a license), so renting a car isnt going to be an option. I guess that will allow me to test out the public transit there, because I wont be bringing a car with me to IU if I go. I may get on the Zipcar thing, but Im not sure yet.TommyK wrote:You should be just fine from NY to Indianapolis. Same as the 120k-- $350 for flight/mileage, $50 for private room.

Yes sir.
Anyone else book a room yet? Wondering where people are staying at...
Also I wonder if the free rooms are at the hotel right next to the University. Seems like that would make sense.

Well IU seems to have agreement with that hotel and the Holiday Inns in town, so I may just take the free room. I've decided Im to cheap to pay for a hotel room if they are going to give me one. I hope my roommate knows that Saturday nights are Anime Saturdays on Adult Swim and plans accordingly, because that's what we're watching, LOL.cerulean87 wrote: Yes sir.

Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
Does anyone know anything about if we can use our financial aid for the fall for the summer start program or if we have to show up with cash on hand? I would be willing to take out the other half of Summer Start tuition and COL for the summer in loans if that would work so I could do the program.
Is there a contact person for Summer Start? My packet said I had information about it enclosed, but I certainly didnt see anything.
