I usually lived near Chinatown, so food wound up being pretty cheap too. TIP: Do no eat from the Hot Bar at Space Market (even though it is oh so close and convenient). Seriously. You will regret it.
What is this Hot Bar you speak of? Will we regret it because it's so good we won't stop going back or regret it because it's a bad idea (enough said)?
I'm obsessed with food and can't wait to move up and explore and discover what will be my daily eats in a new neighborhood!
Basically, the Hot Bar is all the hot food most delis in NY put out in heated pans at lunchtime and you walk in and smell it and think "Oh that sounds like a good idea"... but it really isn't. Really. Stick to the custom sandwiches, or the tossed salads that you can get with anything you want, or the soups at most.
That said, I ate the sushi at space market almost every weekday for a year, and didn't die (though I occasionally wish I had).

This is probably only the second laundromat that I haven't hated going to. And it's the first that's truly... relaxing. It's not like I live in an extremely busy neighborhood, but it's still Chicago. The windows are all grown over with ivy, and it's just this little hidden away space. I can't really describe it, the hum of the machines, the classical music, the complete absence of any conversation... it's like walking into a cathedral.
Plus because the machines are so good, I'm in and out in 90 minutes.
But yeah, I'll probably do wash and fold or w/e in NYC.
That sounds ridiculously nice, to the point that I would like to join you and I HATE doing laundry with fiery passion.

Oh, we're all taking the same courses. The only thing that matters is the professors.

Sorry my sarcasm was lost on some of you. I don't think we'll get assigned sections until summer. Like July or so would be my guess

It took me about 10 days before I could retrieve it. Longer before they sent me an email with instructions.

I think its been 4 days for me and I still can't get mine. It does seem like the 10 days timeline is accurate.

The FAQs say we don't get our sections/schedules until the first day of orientation. I'm also super sad that they only do Thursday/Friday for Thanksgiving. My UG just changed it to get Wednesday off too - effective next year so I just missed it.

Oh wow. I guess it doesn't matter for most people scheduling other things around classes.
My UG used to have Wednesday-Friday off. Then we got the whole week! So it's gonna be different for me.

Yeah that was the one thing I really liked about Yale, a week at Thanksgiving and two weeks of spring break...

NYU is most certainly not among those schools since I sat in on a 1L class last Friday during the last ASW.

Yeah NYU is most definitely not one of those schools. I know Columbia UG doesn't have Friday classes, so maybe CLS doesn't either, but that's just because they are WEAK.
