Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
Got my letter today and I am beyond excited! Though I will likely be deferring to the class of 2015. But I'll still head to all the ASW this semester!
I'm thinking of attending the one at the end of March.

Hey everyone! Just got my acceptance today!
Does anyone know whether all scholarships come with the acceptance package? I am just wondering whether the smaller ones are awarded later.

Also wondering this cause I'm trying to figure out how to approach scholarship negotiations. But I'm pretty sure only the named scholarships are awarded with the initial acceptance, however I have no idea when to expect any (if at all) smaller awards???Calla Lily wrote:Hey everyone! Dulc said the first week of April saw some smaller unnamed awards. Though idk if that was financial aid packages.
Anyone know how the deferral process works? I guess I can ask at admitted students week.

Got my e-mail yesterday. Any idea if international students get any merit awards?

Just fyi, only hamiltons and butlers (and the PI fellowships, mabes), which go out with the initial acceptance, are considered merit. Everything else is technically need-based grants.

Darn- definitely not good. Although not everyone accepts these awards- so maybe there might be a small chance of hope for receiving some money later??? lolSentinelsOfEvil wrote:aaargggghhhhh... thnx for bringing me back to reality...JG Hall wrote:Just fyi, only hamiltons and butlers (and the PI fellowships, mabes), which go out with the initial acceptance, are considered merit. I'm sure they know on average how many people accept the awards and will probably offer more than they want to actually give away.eaa1537 wrote:Darn- definitely not good. Considering I have the lowest LSAT on lsn of people accepted (nonURM), I'm not looknig for scholarships. Just gonna chalk this up to Columbia being generous in its offer and not look a gift horse in its mouth.
(where the fuck did that saying come from, btw? off to google...)

from memory, i think you can tell a horse's age by looking at its teeth... and hence the saying about not looking to see if the horse that you have been gifted is young...starrydreamz3 wrote:I'm sure they know on average how many people accept the awards and will probably offer more than they want to actually give away.eaa1537 wrote:Darn- definitely not good. Quoted for. So, QFT = Quoted for Truth; QF<3 presumably equals "quoted for love"SentinelsOfEvil wrote:

Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
I got my admitted student binder today. But had already read through a lot of it in the online pdf, since I'm such a gunner. =D
So I may be getting ahead of myself, but does anyone know where to get good Columbia Law apparel? This is the only thing I've found so far:

What's up guys? I was admitted for the class of 2013, and deferred for a year, so I'll be joining your class. Congrats to everyone who's getting in now!

Hey guys! So for those of us who didn't get named scholarships, is there any chance we will get any other good aid? I've heard Columbia is notoriously stingy? I assume that everyone else is deciding to attend at full sticker price then? I love the school so I think short of a Harvard acceptance you'll find me there next fall, but damn its expensivveeeee

Just got VCE today. Congrats to everyone else in the group. Did anyone get this Richman fellowship? I have looked for info in previous years and found nada. You have to interview for it during ASW.

Just found a kind of interesting site, apparently like a Columbia Wikipedia: http://www.wikicu.com/Main_Page
Definitely going to rampage through it to find out about the area and stuff.
