I am currently a law student at Washington and Lee and am considering a transfer to Vanderbilt law.
I have about a 50% scholarship at the moment and wondering if people thought it would be worth the sticker cost of a transfer to move to the different schools in pursuit of BigLaw. As it stands, I'm outside of the top 25-30%, which is generally where BigLaw placement occurs at W&L. W&L is ranked 33, while Vanderbilt is ranked 19.

Re: W&L --> Vandy Tranfer: Is It Worth It?
Do you want to clerk? If so, you should transfer.
Do you want to work in Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, or Florida? If so, you should transfer.
Otherwise, stay put. Vandy is a great program but probably not worth sticker unless you have some specific goals (i.e. want to work in Nashville, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, or other southern cities). Its clerkship numbers are incredible though (relative to its U.S. News rank), so if you really want a clerkship a transfer may be worth it.
