Does being gay and middle eastern (but born in the USA) count?

I don't think so, but not positive. Im pretty sure they asked somewhere else in the application for sexual orientation, so I don't think they would have that type of surplusage in the application.

LGBTQ+ and MENA are soft factors that will help your application, but they do not count as formal “underrepresented minorities” for law school admissions.

You can, and should, submit an optional essay about how you will add to the diversity of the student body (I’m not sure about NYU, but I would be surprised if they didn’t let you submit an optional diversity essay). But don’t expect a giant boost to your admission prospects.
