GULC EA/RD Transfer 2019
Surprised this thing hasn't started already: we're a bit late this year.
Let's get anxious together, nerds.
Mid-T1/3.8ish GPA/Top 10% (just barely outside Top 5, it kills me)
Past threads for posterity.

Thanks for starting this!
mid-T2 - top 12% - 3.59
Softs:
3 LORs including the dean of my current school and a Navy Commander
Master's degree
Former military officer w/ combat experience
Work experience in DC (2 federal agencies)
Kind of expecting to get deferred but I figured I'd try for EA and see what happens.

Hey guys!
I noticed that the "#" symbol in my address got changed to "Apartment" so hopefully we hear something soon!
Our school doesn't rank until the first year is over, but I'd reckon I'm in the top 5% based on my gpa. I am part-time though, so I only have three grades. I go to a very well-respected TT. I have a CALI and very strong softs, but there were some C&F things I needed to disclose. I think my LOR was awesome too.
Going through this application process was really great for me, even if I don't get in, because I now have an even better relationship with my recommender, made an effort to meet with faculty at my current school to see what kind of options I'd be leaving, and it was also very healing for me to write about some stuff I went through the past year. I hope I get in though! I'll definitely be depositing asap if I get admitted - I didn't apply anywhere else.

Mid T2 - 3.99 - my school doesn't rank but I'd assume top 3 or so, 2 CALI's
Haven't heard back, but I've been checking my emails several times a day.

I also got an apt. --> Apartment change. I wonder if this actually means anything or if we're just reading tea leaves. Did any of you guys also have an entire section of your status checker called "mailings" appear all of a sudden? I don't know if it just popped up or I had just never noticed it before.thebirdlawexpert wrote:Hey guys! My address changed to say "apartment" as well, so hopefully we do hear back soon.

I can't say with absolute certainty, but I think the mailings section has always been there.MSUN5 wrote:I also got an apt. --> Apartment change. My citizenship was updated to "USA" the day after my application was submitted, so I won't put stock in that...sadly I don't live in an apartment and I didn't abbreviate any part of my address, so I don't think I'll have any changes to my address to serve as indicators.

The 'mailings' section is for sure a recent update.

Hmmm. Well I don't want to start a four-alarm-fire type response on this thread, but it does kinda-sorta seem like they're operating more on the timeframe of 2012-15, when decisions were out in early/mid-April, rather than 2016-18, when decisions were out in late-April/early-May. Obviously, we shall see with time.alexancs1 wrote:The 'mailings' section is for sure a recent update.

Wouldn't that be nice? Relieve some stress before finals.MSUN5 wrote:Hmmm. Looking through some old threads people talk about a change from "application complete" to "application completed"...I'm about 90% sure mine changed. I really should have taken screenshots.

It also seems like a bunch of people said they had "backdoor" access a few days after the apt->apartment change. Has anyone tried that?
It would be great if we found out soon. The person who wrote my letter keeps asking if I've heard and I'd like to relay the news in person before classes end if possible.

I think backdoor access was a technical snafu that persisted for several cycles but they finally fixed last year.tls_toddy wrote:It also seems like a bunch of people said they had "backdoor" access a few days after the apt->apartment change. Has anyone tried that?

Also, @RentAIC, my status checker likewise reads "completed" and I'm p sure it was once "complete."
At this point I'm fully leaning into the tea leaf reading.

Mine says completed now too! Nothing coming up in my USPS tracker yet though.

Here are timelines from the previous years starting from address status checker changes to acceptance letter. Some of these threads are hard to navigate (looking at 2016) so feel free to update/correct. Anyone else worried we noticed changes in the status checkers on April Fools?

4/19 was apt.->apartment change
4/27, user called and reported that "they specifically have not made any decisions yet"
4/30 USPS trackers indicate GULC mail (some with 4/27 mailing date), backdoor access
5/03 Deferrals
2017: 8-10 calendar days, 6-7 business days
4/20 first apt-apartment

For me personally, I am like 99% sure my program type has always been there, but I also specified it on the app. I know in years past, people have had their program type change right before getting admitted. If you're certain it wasn't there a few weeks ago, I'd say things are looking pretty good for you.

Toddy, my friend, it looks like you and I are working with equal levels of neuroticism. I also obsessively ran through past years trying to project admissions decisions based off address change dates. As you have so brilliantly demonstrated, I think our closest analogue is 2014. This would put us at letters ~ late next week, probably April 10tls_toddy wrote:Here are timelines from the previous years starting from address status checker changes to acceptance letter. In addition to what you laid out, I wanted to add two points of interest: (a) there were no tracker updates (e.g. date changes) after addresses were changed last year, so maybe don’t expect any movement until letters; (b) never listen to anything the admissions office says—they’ll always give themselves as much room as possible. Haha.

So if the pattern is any indication, we should see letters on Tuesday or Wednesday.
