Should I email my first choice
I have sent out applications to around 5 schools, but really only want to get into one. I wrote a good personal statement, but now that I am under review I really want to email them and let them know/reiterate that this is the perfect school for me: dream school, etc etc... Good idea? Bad idea?

At best, they put the email in your file, the Ad Comm actually reads it, and they give your application a mini +point.Anonymous User wrote:I have sent out applications to around 5 schools, but really only want to get into one. At worst, you have a typo and they auto-ding you because someone in the office is having a bad day and is annoyed by your message.
I wouldn't do it; it will probably only hurt you.

Thanks for the input, guess I'm just freaking out that I might miss an opportunity. This waiting game does things to the mind....EncyclopediaOrange wrote:At best, they put the email in your file, the Ad Comm actually reads it, and they give your application a mini +point.Anonymous User wrote:I have sent out applications to around 5 schools, but really only want to get into one. Re: Should I email my first choice
Last week I sent a Letter of Continued Interest to my first choice school, was asked to interview the next day and just got admitted today. I don't think it hurts at all. I just updated them with my summer work position, my interest in being in their city and wanting to go to their school even more now that I had been working. I had it as a separate attachment and had a supervisor check it for errors. Keep it to a page or less, but I was in your boat and wanted them to know I would commit were I admitted.

Same - I emailed my #1 that I was in at a similarly ranked school and the #1 accepted me one day later. I just said, "I got in x, still want to attend your school. X wants a deposit very soon."
