2016 Harvard Law School transfer thread
Seeing as next week is the application deadline, I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread.
My stats:
3.96 1L GPA--I don't know my exact rank yet, but cutoff for top 5% was 3.837
Current Law School--T1 mid 40's
Best of luck to everyone! Here's to Harvard deciding to admit 200 transfers this year!

Applied here, but let's see whether my undergrad can manage to keep things under control enough to process dean's certifications...

The woman I spoke with in admissions today said that they 'strongly prefer' everything to be in before that deadline. That's my biggest stressor right now.worried0L wrote:can the undergrad certifications be received later than june 15?

It would make sense if currently at sticker and combined parental income is under $100k annually, therefore eligible for need-aid. Or if on minimal scholly and need-aid would be higher than the current minimal scholly.Joscellin wrote:Could make sense if on a minimal scholly?Nebby wrote:There is at least one every year...transferhopeful2147 wrote:Applied... currently have 3.91 from CCN, waiting on 1 grade still
Or, alternatively, if rich parents then anything goes.

This is a very stupid and dumb question, but can you explain the "benefits" in regards to having parental income under $100k annually in regards to financial aid? How does that impact the financial aid one receives?Nebby wrote:It would make sense if currently at sticker and combined parental income is under $100k annually, therefore eligible for need-aid. Well transfers are not allowed merit aid, but they can get needaid of their parents income is low enough.thecheat2010 wrote:This is a very stupid and dumb question, but can you explain the "benefits" in regards to having parental income under $100k annually in regards to financial aid? FWIW, parental income is not considered for need aid if one happens to be over 29.Nebby wrote:Well transfers are not allowed merit aid, but they can get needaid of their parents income is low enough.thecheat2010 wrote:This is a very stupid and dumb question, but can you explain the "benefits" in regards to having parental income under $100k annually in regards to financial aid? Re: 2016 Harvard Law School transfer thread
Edit: Yeah, that's over a week ago: I'd probably try emailing again, maybe angling it as "When we last spoke about transferring, I was in the process of making decisions. I wanted to update you about where I'm applying to and their deadlines..." (H and S both 6/15, as is Chi)
From what I can tell, H won't even pull the CAS report until 2 letters are in. You could probably use one old one to trigger the pull and then email Harvard to let them know there are more coming and to hold evaluation.
If you had a good relationship with another prof, you could certainly ask if they might be able to turn one around for you quickly. Once they submit to LSAC via the email link, they go up instantly.

Yeah I emailed again. Odds are I'm applying with only 1 law school rec oh well. I got a few other people to review my PS so it's passably par now. I guess if I get dinged it'll be proof (as close as we can get to it) that 2 law professor rec letters are necessary.

One A- and one A+dabigchina wrote:how do you have a 3.99 if your lowest grade is an A? wouldn't that put you in 4.0+ range?PeanutsNJam wrote:I'm hesitant because the two other profs who like me are old wustl lifers, and probably won't be too happy about it. One guy is nice but he was my lowest grade (still an A though so maybe?) and I never went to his office hours, and the last one is a visiting prof who could tell I didn't like him.Nebby wrote:Can you reach out to any other professor?PeanutsNJam wrote:Yeah I emailed again. I guess I never planned on an unresponsive professor lol. In my email to her I said if she needed more time I could ask H/S to hold review, or if she can't write it to let me know asap. Hope she at least responds.
