Trying to transfer to UT-Austin - what're my chances
Currently at a T1 Texas school on half scholly
Will fall somewhere between top 33-37% class ranking
Can get a couple of professors for LORs
I know Texas has been accepting a higher number of transfers recently, but I'm just trying to figure out my chances and whether or not its worth it to even apply.
Any help is appreciated!

I don't know for sure, but I was under the impression you'd at least need top 20-25% to get in to UT?Uhornah wrote:Currently at a T1 Texas school on half scholly

Definitely possible. I was top 35% at a non-TX T1 last year. Worth an application for sure.

This is just an anecdote, but I have a friend who was just barely top 1/3 at UH and transferred in. It's definitely worth going through the process.

It's no sure thing (especially with a new dean of admissions and not knowing where they're going on transfer numbers), but within the realm of possibilities. Be sure to have a good reason for wanting to transfer, because people with your numbers also get denied.

I believe this person was rejected. See: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=265021NINA wrote:Have u heard anything from UT yet?
I did apply to UT as well. I had an interview with them yesterday. They said their coordinator was N/A and they would send out decisions on Monday/Tuesday.

I'm not the best person to ask, as I'm also in the transfer process as well. I would check https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... utput=html to see past years stats.NINA wrote:I am a TT school student, and top 19%. What do u think my chances are? They did mention they are taking a smaller class size this year though, so I am assuming it will be more competitive.

Did my interview today, they said they would be taking around 20-30 this year (less than the last two years). Hoping to hear back Monday/Tuesday as well. Anyone who's gotten in this cycle know how long it took between the interview/decision for regular decision?

Re: Trying to transfer to UT-Austin - what're my chances
I did my interview on a Monday morning and found out Tuesday afternoon. The turn around between the two is really quick, especially for summer applicants. I know the OCI deadline is July 5 so if you haven't heard anything by then, I'd get on their case. I was admitted in April, sent in my final 1L transcript on June 3, and finally got my official acceptance letter last week after I emailed the transfer admission contact. If you're not seeing any movement, it doesn't hurt to follow up just to make sure they have received everything.
