Median at WUSTL, where I can transfer to?

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Apr 18, 2016 12:09 pm

I'll probably be around or slightly above median.

Can I get into a top 14 school?
Specifically interested in Northwestern and NYU.

Would it be worth it?

Thanks.

Probably can't get until either, but there's a small chance Northwestern. If you can get into the top 33% range then you have better chances at NU

Thanks for the comment.
I'll hopefully get higher grades this semester.

Do you think I would have a shot at Georgetown?

Thanks for the response Sublime.
Anecdotal evidence seems like all the evidence that is out there. The yahoo group, doesn't really have people with similar profiles.

It seems like we have a relatively high curve, perhaps that helps if schools are worried about how it would look on their numbers, + transfer money.
I'll give it a shot at the schools you suggest.

All the schools listed above + Duke. You might as well apply to NYU for the hell of it if it is your first choice. Transfer cycles are less predictable than 1L cycles. Weirder things have happened.

I don't know where you got the information that OP could transfer to Duke. In the last 2 years, not a single transfer to Duke from WashU according to the ABA 509 reports. Duke typically takes about 8 transfers a year. SO I highly doubt median at WashU gets in as a transfer at Duke, plus there is no evidence anyway.

I got that information because I was speaking with a median WUSTL student that was transferring and asked for advice. He said he had gotten into Duke. I don't know why he would have made that up.

Honestly don't know. Just looking at the data however, Id be skeptical of that student. The average transfer gpa to Duke is a 3.7. Maybe he did and good for him. But likely he didn't.

I know of WUSTL transfers that got into duke that chose not to attend. I don't know about median, though. Also, median gpa on 509s isn't representative given the disparity between transferee school grading curves. Relative rank is the best indicator.
