Why transfer at all?
I mean, U Chicago is a great school of course, but if you raise your GPA to the point where you're a viable Chicago transfer, then you will likely have options from your T-10 regardless.

Re: Top 10 School to UChicago
you'll probably need at least top 1/3 to have a shot, so that means you'd have to put up a top 10% gpa from this semester to average out
even if you study hard, doesn't mean you'll suddenly get straight a's

I wouldn't be surprised if you got in with top 50% if you apply ED.

Perhaps because OP has personal reasons for wanting to be in Chicago. Other than that reason, though, I agree: transferring would likely hurt OP's job prospects.acr wrote:Why transfer at all?

May I ask why transfer would hurt job prospect, even if it's from T10 to T4?rpupkin wrote:Perhaps because OP has personal reasons for wanting to be in Chicago. Other than that reason, though, I agree: transferring would likely hurt OP's job prospects.acr wrote:Why transfer at all?

Firms will treat you the same as if you were at your old school, but now there's the added "it's weird this person transferred between two peer schools" added to the mix. Firms generally give out a set number (or similar amount) of callbacks year over year to students at each school and now OP will have to compete for those spots with UChi kids while having an unremarkable GPA. Some school alumni might also not like the move (from either school) and that could hurt your chances.PrayFor170 wrote:May I ask why transfer would hurt job prospect, even if it's from T10 to T4?rpupkin wrote:Perhaps because OP has personal reasons for wanting to be in Chicago. Yeah, this is basically right. Also, there's no such thing as the "T4" in real life. Without a compelling personal reason, it's weird to transfer to Chicago from, say, Penn or Berkeley. Look, you'll probably be fine if you do it, but it won't improve your chances at OCI.Mullens wrote:Firms will treat you the same as if you were at your old school, but now there's the added "it's weird this person transferred between two peer schools" added to the mix.
