Transfer Personal Statement
Lol at putting off your GULC EA transfer application until the day before the deadline. Anyone willing to give advice on a fairly-personal personal statement?
Also, any advice on the "why do you want to transfer" question other than, "to maybe get a better job?"
Thanks!

Re: Transfer Personal Statement
Use your original personal statement when you first applied to law school? thats what i'm doing, just uploading the same doc.
As for 'why transfer', you can always say 'better opportunities; want to be in DC because DC is where law and politics intersect" or something? Like you feel GULC fits you better because of its strong emphasis on _______.

Here's the thing, your PS for transferring doesn't matter. At best it will if you are a marginal candidate. It's all about your 1L grades. My app to GULC had a small typo in it and I was accepted EA. It's the last thing you should be worrying about.

I would not do this. At the very least, add a paragraph on why you want to transfer.clshopeful wrote:Use your original personal statement when you first applied to law school? thats what i'm doing, just uploading the same doc.

I don't think this is true. While your PS will probably not help you out perform your numbers, it can hurt. Look around this forum. You'll find people who under performed (likely due to his/her PS).DCESQ wrote:Here's the thing, your PS for transferring doesn't matter. At best it will if you are a marginal candidate. Hey thanks for the feedback everyone. I ended up modifying my original PS and just sent the thing in. Here's to hoping!

Re: Transfer Personal Statement
There was only a single PS for each of the apps I sent out. I also only applied to GULC RD, not ED.clshopeful wrote:I thought the "why transfer" was a different essay?Mr.F wrote:I would not do this.
