TT to Top 30 - Chance me

Post by IPlaw09 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 12:41 pm

Fall GPA 3.54. Unimpressive LSAT and undergrad GPA (hard sciences). Rankings don't come out until end of spring semester but if with this gpa, I would be in top15%

Want to transfer because of geographical preference mostly.

That preference being . . . ? You're good to get in somewhere in the 14-30 range (outside shot at GULC); whether that gets you into your desired geographical area is another question.

Look at the 509 reports for Vanderbilt, Emory, u Alabama, U minnesota, Notre dame. With looking at 509's I think you would be a lock at mostly all of these. All within the top 25.

Should I also rely on LST for employment numbers for those? I mean is it worth transferring if LST gave my current school a higher score than one I would like to transfer to?

Honestly, I am not qualified to answer that question. I am a law student transferring like yourself.

Not sure if those schools would be worth it at sticker. Especially is Biglaw isn't your ultimate goal.

I'm in the same spot as you pretty much. Looking at the 509 report, I think we have a good shot at GW. I'm a little concerned though because some peeps in our same range didn't get in last year.

do you have scholly? are you still trying to do IP? GW IP at sticker isn't the worst gamble in the world but it's still a gamble.

Your current TT has a higher biglaw+fed clerk than the aforementioned T25ish schools?

No. Not those mentioned, but higher than one of the those I would transfer to.
