2016 1L Transfer Thread
Sup everybody?
This is the official 2016 1L Transfer Thread... For others like me who need some extra motivation to kill second semester and lock down the transfer school(s) we want
Wheres everyone thinking of heading? Reach/safety schools?
For me, reach: NYU; safety: UCLA
Im at a T3 in Oregon, should be roughly top 7% right now

You could get into HLS with those numbers, as well as CLS and NYU. Why Chicago only?CheddarArachnid wrote:Hi,

What city?CheddarArachnid wrote:Eh. Not particularly... I mean ideally I would like to go to the school that offers me the most diverse set of Big Law opportunities in the most geographic areas. There is a significant other involved and I would ideally like to be able to get into a city she is in.

Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
Is anyone else thinking of (or already has) transferring to UC Hastings? I just submitted my application last night, even though I think my chances are low in terms of GPA. I have a really strong personal statement, resume, and rec letters. My 1L Fall semester GPA was a 2.95, it'll likely bump up to a 3.2 + once I finish this semester.

Currently at a low 50's school on the east coast, 3.84 top 10%. For geographical preference, family, and financial regions I'm targeting California (and probably the LA area specifically).
Crossing my fingers for UCLA but UC Irvine is a possibility too.

How did you apply to UT? They require first full year courses completed, I thought?thricelawyer9 wrote:I've applied to:

Dude you're a shoe-in for UCLA... Look at the 509. Top 75% Transfer GPA last year was 3.70rysiir wrote:Currently at a low 50's school on the east coast, 3.84 top 10%. For geographical preference, family, and financial regions I'm targeting California (and probably the LA area specifically).

Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
You definitely have a strong shot at UCLA. People should keep in mind though, those 509 gpa stats don't tell you about exact class ranks. Obviously a 3.7 will likely be a pretty high rank anywhere, but at the end of the day schools care more about class rank than your raw gpa.clshopeful wrote:Dude you're a shoe-in for UCLA... I'm interested to see how your situation turns out. I'm also at 3.9/ranked top 5 at T2. I toyed with the idea of transferring, but I think I am doing away with that idea now. Good luck to you.m27 wrote:Checking in. 3.90/ranked 5th at T2, hoping for H/CLS/NYU

Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
Top 5% at wustl, applying to HYS and Columbia, but probably wouldn't xfer to Columbia. Goals are 2d Cir or 9th Cir clerkship (7th too I guess), and/or prestigious biglaw (like W+C level but not that one). Want either NYC, Chi, or LA.
It feels practically certain my grades will drop this semester. :-/
Question for the experienced- could I get 2/7/9 cir even if I transfer to H, since I have 0 professor connections? What are my odds of getting those from the top of Wustl?
Also, is transfer admissions rolling? Is there any advantage to getting it done early or can I chill a bit.
