(1) Maintain.* (2) Apply. (3) . . . well, that's it. Just apply. You're in good shape.ano957 wrote:UT 1L here, 3.9 received for the fall semester. I am also a URM. What would I have to do second semester/this summer to even be considered as a transfer to any of the T6?
Y&S are longshots but only because they take so few. At 3.9, you're sitting at about top 6-7%.
* ETA: In terms of what level you need to maintain, really anything in the top 10% should have you in excellent shape, and top 25% should have you in decent shape for at least one of CCN. To stay top 10%, you need about a 3.75 in the spring. To stay top 25% you need about a 3.4 -- although if you fall off by that much you might scare schools away.
ETA2: The schools won't care that much about your summer plans. Those will be of marginal effect at best. Summer plans are more likely to influence a school like UT/UCLA/USC/Vandy when you're coming from a school ranked in the 50s-80s, because if you got a 1L SA, you'll look like a candidate who can add to their biglaw numbers.

Re: UT to T6?
Damn, how is 3.9 not top 5% at UT?
OP, BVest is right. If you can keep your GPA above 3.85, then you're basically a lock into CCN, and possibly H too. SLS and YLS are black boxes and not worth the application, unless you want to do academia, but who REALLY wants to do that? mirite
