Any Chance at U Chicago?
Hello everyone,
Wondering if I should apply EA for U Chi. I know it's a top school and highly competitive, so I don't want to waste my time if I have really low odds.
Stats: Non URM, go to Univ. San Diego, Fall GPA: 3.812, this should be top 5%. Strong softs/campus involvement.
Think this has a good shot at Uchi? Or should I just save my time/money

What would we be able to tell you that the ABA data wouldn't? If they've accepted people from schools around your USNews rankings, you'd probably stand as good of a shot as any, assuming you maintain top 5% (or end up #1-5 in the class). I'm sure what you do while in school or beforehand probably matters a good deal too since UChi isn't taking many transfers. Either way, you're just as likely to fall outside of the top 5% as you are to move up, so you might as well hold off on this thread until the second semester is almost done.Chimera2016 wrote:Looked at the ABA, but still want imput!

Because USC is binding and GULC is too expensive and I think I can do better than those schools

Re: Any Chance at U Chicago?
I will say that all of the TT UChi transfers I know who were below top 5% of their class came from Chicago schools. They took 15 ED and 10 RD. If you don't ED and don't maintain/improve your grades, your chances at getting UChi will go down significantly. My grades went down after 1st semester (though not significantly), but during 2nd semester I had a feeling they would.
So if you would prefer living in Chicago over NY, and would be happy with UChi, I don't see any harm in EDing. CCN are peer schools and none will give you a scholly or need based aid. You probably wouldn't have a shot at H unless you're climbed to first in your class.
