About to strike out on transfers... What next?
Longtime lurker. I got the "soft ding" from Gtown today which will complete my set of dings from this cycle. I applied to 5 schools in the T14 and got dinged by all. I'm in the top 15% of a 50-60 school. If I strike out at my schools OCI, should I drop out? Do heroin for a few months until my parents cut me off, then down a bottle of ambien? Half joking about that, but serious advice is appreciated.

I wouldn't drop out. You have good grades, just keep hustling and aim to graduate near the top of your class. You might not land biglaw, but that isn't the only route to success as an attorney.Anonymous User wrote:Longtime lurker. While I generally agree with the above user's post, I think it's important to know what your goals are. Where do you want to work? What do you see yourself doing? Outside of your school's area, where do you have ties? Knowing these things will enable us to give you a better answer.
FWIW, all my friends that were Top 15% at my 50-60 school all ended up with market-paying SAs (there were 4-5 of them). This is only my experience, so take that anecdata with a grain of salt, but rest assured that the world will not end.
Also, massmail your ass off.

Also just wondering, but what is a "soft ding?"

There's not much to say without knowing more about who you are and what you want from life. I won't sugarcoat it; if you wanted big law, it's probably not going to happen straight out of law school. However, you could work your way into Big Law, but this is difficult and will take some persistence.
A lot of people have recommended Guerilla Tactics for Getting the Legal Job of your Dreams. This book is supposed to provide several approaches for getting a job while also calling the reader to evaluate what type of job they actually want. You might find that you never really wanted Big Law.
At any rate, start mass mailing, read that book, do the best you can at your school (grades, law review, and moot court if still available), and reexamine your goals.
