Transfer LOCI?
Applied to Columbia, haven't heard, complete mid-July... would totally commit to going if admitted. Would a LOCI at this point be of any use? Just something expressing my continued interest in transfering at this late stage and a committment to matriculate if admitted? If so, what in the world should I say besides that? Thanks!

I don't think a LOCI is a good idea if not at least on a waitlist in any case. I'd be worried about coming off as desperate which can be off putting. It's Columbia, I'm sure they'll assume you're still interested.

To argue the other side, who cares if you come off as desperate? They're not going to reject you for being desperate. And there's a possibility that you showing them how badly you want to go to their school might help.sandwhich wrote:I don't think a LOCI is a good idea if not at least on a waitlist in any case. The one thing I'd be concerned about is annoying the admissions office. But if you're willing to take that risk, I don't think it'll hurt you. I did it.

This might be a good question for Mike over in the "Ask a Former Admissions Admissions Officers" threadlawman84 wrote:To argue the other side, who cares if you come off as desperate? Re: Transfer LOCI?
Did you get in elsewhere? I wrote them a short email this morning that I believe all my missing materials should be in, and that I was accepted into NYU and am waiting on Columbia. No direct response received, but received an admittance letter within 5 hours of my email.

Did you tell them specifically that you would withdraw from NYU or that you would withdraw period? Idk whether to tell them I would withdraw from GULC specifically or leave it open ended

Re: Transfer LOCI?
Yeah my status checker said I had 2 things missing. So I just wrote an email being like, yo I think all my things are in and I'm in at NYU and am waiting on CLS response to decide. Something along those lines. Not sure if it had anything to do with it but that's what happened.

Threw them one of those and haven't heard back (same situation with NYU, two unticked boxes). I don't think I've heard of anyone getting a message back from them. Is it the admissions@law.columbia.edu email or have I literally been sending mail to the wrong place?

That's the correct address. I've gotten messages back confirming they received my emails. It just usually takes 2-3 business days.registering wrote:Threw them one of those and haven't heard back (same situation with NYU, two unticked boxes).
