USF to Hastings

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jul 08, 2015 2:29 am

Hey, I was just admitted to UC Hastings as a transfer student. I currently attend USF (3.29 top 25%) and get no financial aid or scholarship money. I hear bad things about Hastings, but the cost between the schools will pretty much be the same for me. Any opinion on transferring?

Just things about the student life not being very enjoyable. I plan to commute from the east bay so maybe that will make a difference.

I will probably transfer, but I want to see if its possible to leverage the Hastings acceptance with USF to squeeze some funding out of them.

Hastings probably benefits you a bit here, as Biglaw is likely out the window for you either way. Whatever the Hastings name is still worth likely helps you over USF.

Curious as to how cost is roughly equal though unless (i) you're independently wealthy; or (ii) they started doing something weird with Need Access forms that I don't know about -- my understanding was that Hastings throws need-based aid at transfers as well.

If you have specific goals in mind that Hastings might help fulfill, feel free to PM me for details on classes, profs, etc.

Go to Hastings. If you were top 10% (and probably closer to 5%), you might have an argument for staying while leveraging for a scholarship with USF, but as it is, I would go to Hastings. Did you try for Davis?

Ya I applied to Davis also, but my application is still being evaluated. My 1st semester GPA was better than my 2nd semester so I also applied to USC as an early decision transfer but got deferred.
