GULC or Berkeley
I have been accepted to both schools, but I am having trouble deciding. Please let me know your thoughts.

Where do you want to live? Where do you want to work? How much debt will you have at each?

Re: GULC or Berkeley
I have no preference on where I want to live or work. I have family and job connections in both cities. Additionally, I did not receive a scholarship from either school.

You got into both but got no scholarship money - what's your GPA/LSAT? Sitting out and retaking/reapplying is usually better than paying full price anywhere.

This thread is in the transfers forum. I assume you're asking this question because you're wanting to transfer?

Maybe i'm missing something but Berkeley seems like a no-brainer here. What's giving you pause?

I also thought Berkeley was the obvious choice, but a majority of the people I have talked to said Georgetown.

Who are these people and what did they say? Absent some burning desire (or financial motivation) to go to GULC and live in D.C., Berkeley would also appear, at least to me, to be the clear winner.st-1 wrote:I also thought Berkeley was the obvious choice, but a majority of the people I have talked to said Georgetown.

And also answer the question about debt. What are you paying at your current school?scottidsntknow wrote:Wait what kind of school are you at now?st-1 wrote:3.9 GPA and 170 LSAT

Re: GULC or Berkeley
Difficult to understand why you have no scholarship at a non-T-14 law school with a 3.9 GPA & a 170 LSAT. What is your current law school, class rank & law review ?
The answer to your question largely depends upon whether or not you want to live & work in the West.

You're correct. This is an odd thread for a transfer student. Transfer students do not receive scholarship offers & LSAT & undergraduate GPA are not relevant, yet OP is discussing scholarships & sharing his LSAT score & GPA.

Yes, because the first people responding did not look to see what forum this was in.CanadianWolf wrote:You're correct. This is an odd thread for a transfer student. Also Berkeley and GULC have given money to transfer students.

I only shared the information because I was asked. I go to a TTTT school (around 120) and was 5 in my class. Had an offer to join Law Review. Additionally, I am currently on a full ride at my school.

Re: GULC or Berkeley
This is actually the real question you should be asking yourself: Is there harm with staying put? Does your current school place any top students in biglaw, clerkships, or government? If so, it's probably worth sticking around unless you really want to leave and need a school with national name recognition in another part of the country.st-1 wrote:I only shared the information because I was asked. Re: GULC or Berkeley
My understanding is that GULC & Berkeley award only need based financial aid to transfer students, not scholarship (merit) money.
OP: If you want to live & work in the West, UCal-Berkeley is the easy answer.

Wait why are you a 170 at a TTTT. Also why does your thread read so much like an 0L thread. This is all so confusing.

Re: GULC or Berkeley
My thread reads like an 0L because the first people to comment were confused by my question. I had two companies during college and did not do well my first two years. I should have applied to better schools, but I did not. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

Re: GULC or Berkeley
OP I would still transfer if you're at a TTTT.
You should take Berkeley over GULC, but you should also really decide where you would like to live. Not only is the difference between the coasts big, but you also would be looking at different kinds of work depending on what city you end up in, and this should all be important to you.
