Re: Transfer Advice
What's your current rank/GPA?
What are your career goals?
What's your COA at GW and what would it be at Georgetown?
If you've got a decent scholarship, and your grades were good enough to get into Georgetown, I wouldn't leave GW to be a smaller fish in a slightly bigger pond. That debt isn't worth it. Biglaw numbers favor Georgetown slightly, but likely with your rank and GPA you've already got a good shot at biglaw from GW.

Re: Transfer Advice to Georgetown
I'm top 15% at GW probably closer to top 10%.
I want to do Big Law to pay off all my loans ...which leads to the next point-- I have no money from GW and they do not give out scholarships to 2Ls and 3Ls...so the COA is practically the same for both...

Being risk averse, I would stay. You would likely do well at Georgetown, but you know you would do well at GW. You're beyond meeting a Biglaw cutoff at GW based on your rank. Sure, Georgetown might look slightly better, but GW is fairly well respected and your rank will speak volumes, too. Granted, it's a tough decision. I would just worry about the gamble.

Funny enough I'm in the same exact situation (you can see the thread I started asking if GW->GULC was a good idea). I'm pretty sure I'm going to make the transfer because GW gives me no money and honestly I haven't really enjoyed the school much. I would think about whether they currently give you any money, what your job goals after graduation are, etc. etc. For example are you IP? Because if I were IP I'd be much more hesitant to transfer. Things like that. Also, it's not too late to apply to some other schools that have a July 1 deadline (like NYU) or July 15th (CLS, Duke I think, some others). Good luck and feel free to PM me when you've made your decision!

I'd transfer since you're getting no money, but I'd also apply higher.

Yes, definitely apply higher, particularly if you're interested in NY.

Agree that you should apply to Columbia, NYU & Duke. Whether or not a move from GWU to GULC is worthwhile is too close to call in your situation.
