Merit based aid for transfers

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jun 26, 2014 3:23 pm

I submitted a tuition deposit today, meanwhile, they are reviewing my file for a merit based scholarship. Actually, their policy is that they do NOT give institutional aid to transfers. However, they are reviewing that policy for this year and will "get back to me shortly in regards to my eligibility." My question is, will submitting my tuition deposit today affect my chances of merit based aid? In other words, will they look at my deposit and say "we know he wants to go here, we shouldn't give him aid because he's coming anyway." Thank you.

You probably need leverage if they were to give you any aid (which I'd've never heard of happening), but who knows. Do you have an offer to transfer to a different (better) school. I

Looks like you've done all you can do, if they say they're gonna review it
I guess that's a good sign.

Yes, I've definitely done all I can. I've emailed multiple times, sent other offers, and got in contact with the right people (I think). Just hope my deposit won't hurt my chances.

Doubt it, as long as the other offers are still ones you can take.
