Plenty in the Penn Students Taking Questions thread. TCR is to join the Penn Class of 2017 Facebook group, see if you're interested in any of the apartments listed there. If not, check out Craiglist via map view.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone have advice on where to live, and how to find an apartment in Philly?
Good mid range ($800-1,200 studio or single bedroom) neighborhoods in walking distance of school include Grad Hospital, Fitler Square, West Philly Baltimore Ave from 45th or so and eastward, Center City West (above Rittenhouse), maybe south Fairmount. Rittenhouse is fantastic if you're rich and have cash to burn, but for everyone else it's easy to live close by it at 1/2 the price.
If you don't mind biking or taking public transportation - both very easy in Philly - you can expand your options and live anywhere in Center City or West Philly, also feasibly some parts of South Philly and maybe Fairmount.
Lots of variety and a huge range of prices. Again, Craigslist's map view mode is indispensable. If you can, visit the city for a full day walking tour of the neighborhoods you're interested in to get a feel for them and their distance to Penn.
